I've got a torque wrench which isn't too bad, does it's job n stuff.. but the head has just started to fall out (circular spring has dislodged), and I wanted to check the accuracy. Is there anyone in the Akld area that sorts tools out?

You can send it to the agents,or some of the quality brands you can get a ratchet head kit for....the SK 3/8 ratchet head never changed for decades, mine is 30 yrs old, used every day and I've fitted one head kit over 10 yrs ago.You can tests it's acuracy against another...or some tool guys have a test rig.My Matco man repairs some tools himself, and has someone to do his air tools...my 15 yr old Matco rattle gun, used constantly everyday and never lubed is in with him for it's first service. He'll be back on his rounds next week I'd say, tell me the brand and I'll ask if it can be serviced.

Easy to test.
Put the 3/8 drive in a vise, with the handle horizontal.
Hang weights off the handle one foot from the 3/8 drive, adding to them till the torque indicator clicks and see if the weight added equals the setting you chose on the adjuster.

I have a mate who is one of only a few in N.Z who is able to certify and fix torque wrenches. His company name is Torque time, his name is Dug, cell number 0272223394. Give him a ring and see what happens if you get stuck.

Just saw your post. If you're in Auck. Strainer Systems do the certifying. We can get them repaired and certified for you. You can PM me if you've not had it sorted by now.
