Riding a motorcycle at a reasonable pace though a twisty section of road is fun no question about it. But its also dangerous as seldom do you have a good view of the road ahead.

Potentail hazards are crap on the road like gravel, roadkill, rubbish, potholes and bumps.

Another one that nearly took me out just last weekend is livestock 3 sheep ran out onto the road ahead and I braked very hard to avoid them. One of them was so freaked out it lost its footing which may have been how I came to miss it.

Another thing this time of year are cyclists be it farmers kids or serious triathetes getting in training.

Another thing might be some other motorcyclist trying to go fast the opposite way or cage drivers that think its ok the cut across the center line in an attempt to straighten out the bends.

Anyone whos fallen off on the open road will tell you that apart from being dam expensive your chances of being badly hurt or killed are very good.

Think about it. Think about what you would do if something unexpected arises. Not saying don't have a good time just know the risks and manage them rather than ignore.

So true! If I had a dollar for every time I have thought to myself "slow down...you never know what's around the next corner" and actually had to avoid hazzards on the road, I'd have enough for a new bike:shifty: Especially on familiar roads where you know every bump. Just because you know the road really well its doesn't make it any safer to push it.
