Well, after over a year of on-and-off bikeless Kiwibiker-ing, I've finally scraped together the cash for a piece of the magic for myself.

Yes, I am now the proud owner-in-waiting of this little beauty: http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=44179386

It's got the nice paint scheme, had a complete upper engine rebuild 15K ago, and the fairings are pretty mint. And all for $1310 :)

There was a little drama concerning the condition of the powervalves, if you read the unanswered questions on the page, there's this guy going on and on about how it must have shot powervalves, and how expensive they are. The guy selling it says he has never actually seen the bike, and that it produces power just as good as it always has. Still, I will be on the lookout for any sign of trouble, or said high-end flat spots. And I have Alarumba's tragic experiences in this matter to show me the way forward should anything arise.

But this bike has eaten all my savings (as well as a little that I haven't saved yet lol!!), and I still need to get a WOF/rego/licence/BHST, which will be even more monies that I just don't have as a poor bogan.

And that's not even including gear! So I now make a heartfelt plea, if anybody has any surplus gear that they feel like donating (or even selling nicely) to said poor bogan, I would be incredibly thankful! (PM?)

*Sigh* It feels good!

that russ guy (from what i know about the powervalves) sounds like he knows what he's talking about, it sounds as if you've just bought a lemon, if you haven't paid for it take it down to a bike shop before you do and get them to check it over, if the seller won't let you, well you should just walk away as they obviously have something to hide, if you have already paid for it, it might pay to take it down and get it checked over because as russ (and i've been told) if the powervalves break i think they drop a pin down into the pistons which can cause havoc, sorry i'm not 100% sure on the powervalves, thats just what i was told about them when i was looking at an rg250

oh and a rebuild 15k ago on a 2 stroke is not something to brag about either, it will be due for another one soonish (say 5-10k) assuming the powervalves don't cause the engine to eat itself

Have a yarn to Alarumba lol.....

Nah, the guy says it produces power nice and properly, and with any luck, if the powervalves have been done before, they might have been strengthened? I know that it's a not uncommon upgrade on RGV250s, which, as far as I can gather, have much more of a propensity to drop pins than RGs.

you shouldn't be so trusting, just because he says it, doesn't mean it's true, get it checked, it could save you a lot of headaches

NO!!!!!

There was one guy at UHC who rode (rides?) an RG (I forget which colour scheme it was), always in shorts and a T-shirt. I never got the opportunity to meet him and tell him about the wonderful time he'd have in the skin grafts ward.

ps. It's because RG150s are teh winz0r.

That's a south african exchange student by the name of Dirk or Derrik or something absurd. Pretty brain-death, as far as I can tell. Oh yeah, he was also riding in jandals the other day.

As for the dude who has the same bike but wears gear, that's me (when I've got the bike running of course). I need a custom paintjob, I'm planning to paint it black and get hayabusa decals for it

My RG is really good, just a shame about the powervalves. At least it gives me something to work on

Hey Dude, congrats on the new bike. Got a helmet yet? If not what size is your head? I have a full face FFM in good condition, never been dropped or damaged, size 54. If you are not sure of your size go to a bike shop and try on some helmets. You are welcome to have it gratis if it will fit properly (no use if it too loose). Protect that head of yours......I have enough brain injured clients as it is thanks. If it will fit PM me with your details. Happy riding.

Ah, I went up and got it today!!!!! It is a joy to behold!

Runs sweet as, and handles so excellently around the driveway. (lol)

She's gonna need a rear tyre to get woofed, the front should still be fine.

Pix coming soon.

ps. HUGE ENORMOUS THANKINGSYOU to trumpy, who donated his ol' FFM helmet to me. Next time you see him get him a beer from me lol?
