I came across a rolling NS250R frame I'm thinkin' of butchering for a bucket, I've got a man who can weld it but we need to know exactly what aluminium alloy it is.
Anyone know where/how to look?
Thinking of giving Honda a call direct, see if they can lend a hand but just in case someone knows where it is on the net.
Anything I google for either gets nuthin' but NSR-World.com or screaming piles of crap.

Cheers

Performance bikes did a test on aftermarket swingarms years ago - you may be able to find the article in the Central library archives. It was when they were a decent mag, and John Robinson was tech ed. IIRC, they said that the alloy in a Suzuki swinger was a 7000 series self tempering one. Don't take my word for it - it is from memory... I can't remember the exact alloy used.
I would doubt that they woudl use an alloy that required post weld heat treatment, for production reasons.

When I welded up the FZR arm for the turbo I used 4043 sticks , don't use 5 series they don't work......

Be sure to let us know how you get on, I'd be interested in the alloy too, having a similar frame.
