Well, so much for Rossi's protestations that he wants nothing to do with a tobacco company sponsoring his bikes! I see Camel are the new sponsor of the works Yamaha team of Rossi and Edwards.
So not only Honda dropped Max, his 'saviours' have too. I can just imagine that Valentino is not unaware of that. Oh those Italians, eh?

Ummmm, he's had tobacco sponsorship the past two years.

Yeah Rossi supposedly hates Tobacco. He was keen to go with his old sponsors Nastro Azzuro.
Camel pulled out of Sito Pons Honda team, which effectively caused them to collapse (pulled out completely). Max Biaggi is without a ride, Rossi has Biaggi's old sponsor, he probably went with Camel just to piss him off.

Well sort of, Camel wanted to sponsor Max Biaggi, Honda said "we aint having that wanker riding for us, thanks very much". This caused a bit of grief, so Camel took their money to Kawasaki and said "we'll pay your team, let Max ride!" Kawasaki ummed and arghhed and made up some cock and bull story that Bridgestone had no spare tyres, so Max was out. Camel responded by pulling out of MotoGP and having a blast at Honda. Alot of its about whether a sponser can decide who rides the bikes or the manufacturer has the rights. Anyway some bright spark thought "Hey, if we can't join them (Honda) lets beat them (join Yamaha)" They must have really pulled some big dollars out to get Yamaha to sign up with Camel. Altadis (the siggy company) have already let the lawyers loose on Yamaha now. They were already going to, as Yamaha had cut short a contract with the Gauloises by a year, part of this termination included a clause that no other tobacco company would step in. Camel must have agreed to pay out Yamaha for any breach of contract that now happens. It also relates to Rossi wanting to spend more time testing the Marlboro sponsered Ferrari, Camel are only too happy to let him do what he wants, so long as they can thumb their noses at Honda! :finger:

The Biaggi saga continues with talks to run a fourth Alstare Suzuki alongside Fabien Foret with Camel $$ but also could be linked to a Ten Kate Honda as Winston is a sister brand to Camel - both owned by Japan Tobacco Int. I heard on the radio today that he is talking to Kawasaki to run a ZX10 also. Watch this space I guess!

So he doesn't hate tobacco (obviously), he is sponsered by a tobacco company, yet claims to dislike tobacco? Is that correct? The 'spy' pictures confirm some sort of scandel, just what is going on?
