View Full Version : Takapuna Racists~~

On Saturday last week myself and a mate was hanging out outside his place on Jutland road, Takapuna. We were just minding our owns and my bike was parked by the curb, a car with two lil brats drove past and yelled "####" ... !
Firstly, I ain't white, but I am dame proud of who I am and have got along with every ethnic group in my 30 or so years in NZ.... Central Takapuna though....a different story, populated by (rich spolied kids) whom been taught by thier parents to scorn the minorities....
Anyways, Ok, quite Obvisouly they didn't have an idea who they were messing with...
So, I got on my bike, chase them down to their house, got onto their drive way and gave them a good 20 minute lecture...
2 lil 18 year olds seemly got too much time on their hands and needs to be taught a lesson.... I demanded to see their parents but apparently they weren't there and one commented "My dad is eve more racist !".....ok.... so you see how kids are affected potently by their lovely parents..
I told them I was going to take them to the police station and they got a bit timid.... anyways I went down to the cop shop and filed a complaint , on "dangerous driving"(in fact they were driving dame close to the bike)
Hopefully this educates them, this brat picked on the wrong yellow brother...

any ideas what else I can place further repercussions on them (legally):motu:
2 suggestions
1) take the address off this post... my personal opinion is that you're playing with fire here. (Sedition comes to mind)
2) Go back when the parents are there. I'm willing to bet the "my Dad's even more racist" is a lie...
oh yeah - good on ya for letting them know what's what. :niceone:

I must admit, I've been responsible for making jokes at the expense of other ethnicities (is that a word?), always in good humour and rarely derogitory. In fact, I don't know a single person who hasn't.
However bigotry is neither big nor clever and the fact that someone would shout something like that out a car window at members of the public should be a punishable offence. She's a big enough country for everybody folks.

Sadly, no there's nothing to stop these morons in this case. I would however be slightly more worried about the repercussions of laying a "false complaint" to the police. In saying this I hate racism and cases like this seem to be reported more and more. To be honest it sounds like the parents are to blame here...

yeah guilty as charged (albeit a while ago now)... I think there's a diffenerence between the "give and take" approach to shit slinging and the "beat 'em down because I believe they're inferior" approach though.

As said before, its a silly idea to have their address up there.
Im South African and damn proud of it, but a common misconception is thats cause I am from "there" I am a bloody racist. Bloody stereotypical if you ask me. So are you telling me that its my parents fault that I should be racist (Im not btw) or is it a stereotypical trait passed onto us from the rest of the world?
Im not racist at all, but I do sometimes have a chuckle at the misfortunes of others, regardless of their skin colour. As do most of the world. But (and NO-ONE take this the wrong way, it my own opinion) I don't like the idea of being called a pakeha, so does that mean I can charge someone for slander if I get called it? No! Its just how it is.
Good on ya for cornering the guys and talking to them, but thats about the best you can do these days

No, it is a personal choice. You have probably hit the nail on the head about the "rest of the world" part, however in this case it sounds as though these idiots parents may encourage this kind of behaviour?

To a certain extent how you deal with this racism, in the youth's eyes, could only reinforce their own stereotype of your race/colour...what I mean to say is that going vigilante, angry yelling and shouting may work, but its more likely to reinforce their misguided beliefs. *cue cliche antiracism movie storyline* :)
Good on ya for doing something though...although that address has got to go.

I dunno.....me thinks best way to deal with it is to just ignore them.....agree wrong but 'taunts' are something kids do and normally grow out of and you know who you are which is what is more important.....

why take the address off. If I recall, one of the absolute defences to defamation is truth, so there is nothing defamatory in a statement that says "Two fuckwits at this adress abused me because of the colour of my skin".
Put half a kilo of sugar in the petrol tank of their boy racer fuckwitmobile. wear gloves, do it when no ones around.

Legally the cops can't do much if the stupid kids hollered something at you on the way past. Otherwise, nearly every half-clad female around the country on a Friday or Saturday night would be harping on them because some guy hanging out the window of his mate's car yelled "show us ya :blip: :bleh: !!"

But more or less I wanted to educate them that these acts ain't neccessary, ironically years ago I was a teacher so dealing with youth ain't unfamiliar to me...
My bad for including the address previously will do more thinking before posting and guess I shouldn't categorise the surburb as a "racists neighbourhood" because in every suburb there are the sorts.... just have to believe the majorities are of the "lenient" kind.... First thing I'd suggest is growing a pair.
So they called you a name, so what? Do you really think by riding to their house and giving them a lecture they gave a crap about what you had to say?
All this crap about people not be racist is bullshit as well, I think the number of posts / threads on here about Asian women drivers is testament to that.
We all make snap judgements about people, either by the way they look (clothes etc..), their race, car, bike or whatever... whether these are true or not depends on the person in question, but there's no doubt we all do it.
Sorry these guys hurt your feelings, but if we all ran to the cops every time someone called us a name then we'd never get anywhere would we?

What happened with your burglary?
got interviewed through the phone for filing police report. Didn't even have time to come and show that burglary is a crime.
I had to literally beg them (Avondale) to send someone just to get closure.
A few days later one police constable came. It did gave us a sense of closure and put back the peaceful feeling into our home.
Just saying, Dy, that if the burglars know crime scene does not even get visited, then what's stopping them from doing more of these things?
Not that I'm slagging the police. I appreciate their time sending someone very much. But clearly, there is something definitely wrong with this country's law and order. Maybe it is time for another Guy Fawkes.

WINJA, is totally correct. Working for the MOJ I see these types of situations often. Retaliation (sp?) I think it is, in a roundabout kinda way. It used to be that burg's were investigated by Sectional staff (basically the guys who turn up when an incident is happening)...however now there is a burglary squad of about 4 guys who go around doing the burg reports. Often there are lines of enquiry but we have to put more important cases first...unfortunatley there is a massive backlog of files.
The reason Sectional staff dont do them anymore is simply we cant afford to have them tied up doing a burg file when other stuff is on the go (domestics, car knockers etc)...thing is though that burg squad staff are only on sometimes during the week where as Sectional staff are on 24/7 as there are 5 sections working different rosters.
It more comes down to the fact we just dont have enough staff anymore..we actually had more staff back in the 80's on section then we do today, and crime has trippled since then.
I know its not a great reason but we can only do what we can with what weve got :bs:
Cheers for explaining.....guess these days 'resoluton' for victims is all that can be done and you guys need to prioritise and whilst not taking away the suffering of those burgled, there is a lot more suffering out there that needs sorting out more urgently and proably has a bigger impact if dealt with......

Not that I'm slagging the police.
Now this just pisses me off. The PC on the front line fine, but the arseholes who prance around in their uniforms making "policy" descisions that the 300 road deaths per year (which they'll never reach untill they start TRAINING drivers (Fuck I hate that "EDUCATING" PC bullshit)) is more important than home safety just need a darn good slapping. Fcuk the polutitions, crime against persons and property is the priority, and yes I do include in that such things as drunk and dagerous driving.
It's about time police starting using the discretionary powers a bit more and used the time to investigate burgleries etc instead of giving tickets out to people driving at 111kph in perfect conditions. This has been going on for years, the public have complained and complained and nothing has changed.
This also pisses me off about speed camera. I love them, free's up a sworn PC to go and fight real crime, not sit on his arse all day writing tickets.
BTW, someone here said they got a ticket for riding in a bus lane. FFS, when are the cops going to learn the laws. How can we keep/know them when the plod can't either.

I must admit we have encountered remarkably little racism directed our way and what we have encountered has only really been in the last year or two. i.e. Was asked a while ago if I had found my wife on the internet!! Had to explain (politely) that in fact she has been in New Zealand since she was four, and that is a good fifteen years longer than I have, and actually she is a good driver as well.
We try to correct peoples ignorance when we can but we also accept that some people will spend their entire lives wallowing in their own stupidity. Being drawn into their game saps us of energy that could better spent on our own endevours....like riding my bike!

Anyway, slight mishap, no damage, I apologised and the geezer who owns the shop told me that I should leave Natalie outside.....now I am a pretty easy going guy but I politely laid into this guy about rights and all that to the extent that he did not even respond and I have never been back since and I was a regular customer......and this was in Devonport!!!!
In a nutshell he just said the wrong thing (and when it comes to Nats I am very defensive) and in this case he deserved what he got and may be more accomodating next time and I guess that we should all think before we deal/ react to a situation on the road and ask ourselves what the benefits are.....at the end of the day we will never see that fuckwit again so does it matter and it is not worth the risk of picking the wrong fuckwit or getting so wound up that we may not ride safely......PICK YOUR BATTLES...

Hi Grahame, I too have a 42yr old son who has a lot of difficulties that prevent him doing many of life's normal things.
He suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy and he falls a lot so he has to wear a rugby helmet to protect his head from the terrible injuries he sustains.
You can imagine some of the taunts he has to endure from arsholes of all dimensions.
I am very proud of the way he manages these situations and just gets on with his life and just does the best that he can. Oddly enough he makes excuses for the offenders.
I took him up to the bus the other day and the only seats available were either at the back with some children or beside a woman about his own age, we chose the latter for obvious reasons but she openly showed her disapproval and was quite rude to him all the way to Frankton (Queenstown).
When I phoned him to see how the trip was, he said he really enjoyed it.
I asked him about the woman next to him and his reply was, "she can't help it".
I asked myself, who in this world is really handicapped! sometimes it's not the obvious who have the biggest problems.
The best we can do is to only worry about the things we can control and leave alone those that we can not. Cheers John.

This bit says it all John.........some of us worry about idiots in cars and fail to realise what really matters.
You take care eh?

Personally I'd blown the buggers a big sloppy kiss and give them the option to stop and have a "yarn" if they so chose.
Yea that realy pisses them off. Use to sometimes pucker up to the boy racers when they mouthed off at me for going so slow driving the yellow shuttles. Had one guy go apoplectic on me once. We were in heavy traffic and my bus was causing problems due to low batterys anyway this car comes racing up on the outside lane. While I am waiting for the lights to change the passenger in the back seat starts giving me the fingers and the bad mouth bit. Now I'm no more that four or five feet away from this dick so I slide the window and pucker my mouth to him. Well did he go off. Now the funny thing is that as he opened the door to do god know what the lights change and his mate takes off like there is no tomorrow. Well this guy goes sliding out the door and lands on his arse, I drive past and say just one word. Cunt!! That was a good day that was.

I think it was Ed Moses (the 400m hurdler who was unbeaten for ten years or so) who said that you shouldn't worry about the stuff you can control, because you can do something about that and you shouldn't worry about the stuff that's outside your control cos there's bugger all you can do to change it....so why worry. (Obviously paraphrasing a bit there).
It frequently amazes me how it's those that have it toughest that can teach the rest of us lucky f-ers the most about how to carry ourselves with dignity.

I guess that is how I deal with my situation except when it comes to educating others about disability cause I may be able to change peoples attitudes which I have done when occasion suits....who knows, you just get on with it eh?

Here lies the path less travelled where the fetters of stress are broken, and walking naked amongst the shackeled those that understand the above are truly free.

I have the right to be racist - but only to my family (in laws). They're all muso's and sports people so it can be a little intimidating at family functions. I'm the only person of european decent in the family (they're samoan). At first it was tough but I've stayed true to who I am and have tried not to offend anyone. For the most part they've accepted me. We had a get together recently where the Karaoke machine was blasting again, and they kept on at me to sing (knowing I can't) so I carefully perused the list and came up with this....
"I've got a luverly bunch of coconuts. See them all standing in a row.... "
They laughed as they beat me.....

Grahameeboy and Oldrider; sadly familiar stories in a so called "enlightened" society. I have been involved in the disability scene for nearly 30 years (medical, teaching and therapy) and presently own a rehabilitation engineering company. We have more than 3,500 clients in our files and I could fill a very large book with all the stories of extraordinary courage and determination I have witnessed over the years.... far beyond anything the average person on the street could possibly imagine. I do not have any heroes in life but one or two of my clients come pretty damn close.
This is about ignorance; as the ad says "know me before you....."

Know what I can't stand? Bloody poms. Coming over here, becoming mobile chicanes on the tracks and good riding roads, stealing all the women. Wish they'd piss of back to the land of the lukewarm beer and leave us kiwis alone.
Not like us Scots eh? Salt of the earth people and had their land stole of 'em by the Poms!!
Wish we had a treaty so we could leech off it for ever!!

You are correct, if the kids (who i presume live there and are the lawful occupier) didnt say they wanted him to go there is no offence. In saying that they were kids and he was an adult, a judge may still deem it trespass. It could also be construed as Unlawfully in an enclosed yard as he was not invited on the property.
With the light severity of this offence though i doubt the Court or the Police would give it much time, if any.
Kids are "adults" at 17... I thought they were 18? He was not there unlawfully, once asked to go he would be... U/L in enclosed yard? Don't think so fella... If car drivers can drive into private property to avoid Police doing their duties, and that is not unlawful, how can going on to a property to bollox arsewipes who racially abuse you be unlawful????

Unlike the ambulance and fire service it is written into our contract that we can not strike. Thats why we dont get paid overtime, have to buy our own gear and have no legs to stand on.
Traffic units are dedicated traffic, there is three sections in the Police, CIB,GDB (normal cops) and Traffic.
All work semi independant.
Not only is it written into contract, it is also written into law...Police can not strike in any way shape or form...One of the very few occupations where strike action is illegal.

Personally I couldn’t give a rats ass what colour you skin is or where you wore born, or that your bright orange and from the planet Dwip! We all look the same with helmets on!
If you haven’t done anything to me or mine then your all right till proven otherwise.
Still take the piss out of Asian drivers tho...
At least they have an excuse unlike the 4WD drivers out there! They’re all the same! Should be beaten with spoons!:Pokey: :devil2:

I don't actually agree with what you did. You're actually feeding their racism by acting just like they expect you too if you get what I mean? Unless someone brings it to your face then you know they're cowards so just let them go.
I'm glad you took back the takapuna comment because that's plain racism or should I say prejudic right there my man. Plus I'm from takapuna and I'll be damned if I'm racist.
You could actually be charged with trespassing on their land should they wish to do so.
Don't get me wrong, I hate smartass 18 year old boys hanging out of cars too but they're just that, punks. I wouldn't give them the time of day but to maybe flick them the bird.
I think you could have handled it better.

*snip snip snip*
I know its not a great reason but we can only do what we can with what weve got :bs:
I understand what you said, Dy. The lady that interviewed me tried explaining that too, and I thanked her very much for just being honest to me. At least, if we are not getting anything then the most decent thing is just to tell us straight in our face instead of getting our hopes high. Good on that lady.
The government clearly has done something terribly wrong when they merged MOT with Police. As with Government want to 'criminalize' speeding, I suspect that is just to boost the 'solved-crime' number up significantly without doing anything different, aye?
That is why I am not blaming cops for what happened.
You also said GDB, CIB and Traffic works SEMI-independently. I assume it means "GDB and CIB needs to help the Traffic"? :brick:
By the way, I am a Yellow bastard and that was why I poke into this thread in the first page. To put the thread back into topic, and consistent with my Reputation as being Ethnix, I have to say one thing about NZ: the racism here is not as bad as in any other country. BUT, what worries me is not the current level, but it is the current trend that racism has become more and more rampant.
Although the level of racism is not anywhere near australia yet, with the current increase in racism I guarantee you if we do not change our attitude then 3 years from now it will be like Indonesia.
I came from there. I came from a very racist society, and I know what it is like there. Believe me, you do not want to go there.
If you love New Zealand, your country, then (for God's Sake) love it for what it is: the last peaceful place on Earth.
