Just been into Cycle Treads, and Don mentioned that he'd heard there was a biker fatality on Port Hills (Chch). Yesterday I think he said. Anyone know anything about it?

Nah haven't heard anything about it or read about it. Hoping it's not true but if it is RIP to the rider.

Back in the early '90's there were a bunch of us that used to race RG-50's (yes 50cc) around the Port Hills. Occasionally, someone would fall off.
How none of us went done the hills, I'll never know. Very unforgiving road.

Nothing from police comms. The closest thing I can find from yesterdays reports are of a lady killed (pedestrian) when a van mounted a pavement in Ferry Road, and a guy who died when his ride on mower rolled down a hill, "above Lyttleton".

Not to say it aint true though.

and a guy who died when his ride on mower rolled down a hill, "above Lyttleton".I'm surprised they don't include that as a 4-wheel motorcycle and whack it into the ACC stats. Another crazy biker.

And here's me hoping that the days of dangerous stalking me could be over :buggerd: (PT)

I have seen or heard nothing.

... a guy who died when his ride on mower rolled down a hill, "above Lyttleton".

Saw that, apparently the mower was on top of him, pretty gruesome thought.

Yep them Port Hill can be a bit tricky for the unwary. The council tends to spray gravel up there in the winter and if you lock up there's bugger all room but to go down or end up over the centre line but the roads so narrow there's not one.

RIP whoever but it may be a rumour.
