Polish or Wet Wash

Whats everyones opinion on bike cleaning?. I know some people use polishes such as Mr Sheen/Pledge etc on their fairings etc and some use concentrated bike wash mixed with water.... What do you guys/gals use products wise?

I wash every month or so with standard car wash stuff to get all the crap from under the rearend etc.
I wax every week or so to keep it nice :)
Every night I used to chamois the bike to remove squashed flies etc and a general wipe down especially fork sliders.
Nowadays I got given a new wax called Ezi Bead that sprays on from a Aerosol. Its very good and is not abrasive and keeps it mint. It seems to make flies come off real easy as it sort of dissolves them, and is especially good on my Mirrored visor.
I've used every type in the past from 3 step Mcguires(sp) to cheap shit ones. My new setup is definately the easiest and still does a beaut job :)

You can get it I think in Supacheap and Repco, theres also other similar products. Its good for bikes and doesn't leave residue like other waxes.

I scrub mine down with hot water and dish washing liquid (down to earth i think) then i use that $2.99 supreem sheen from the Wharehouse..

I gave up buying the expensive shit, anyone who has seen my bike will tell you it comes up mint..

Dishwash liquid is a bit of a nono. It gets under paint and seperates it from the metal. Fine on fairings but there are lots of metal bits to worry about.
Car guys reel back in shock if you mention it.

Make sure it's detergent free buddy. Otherwise it'll slowly eat away at your paint, and before you can say "R1 can't ride a bike to save his arse and Biff would kick his arse up the twisites in Aka" - you'll be back to your bikes original GN250 colours. And since you've now got, arguably, the best paint job I've ever seen on a sprots bike you don't want any fokers to know you ride a girls bike that's been made to look like an aRse1.

ok,hunted around the usual suspects, no one had it.

a google tells me it's a CRC item-one ph call to Brakes n' Transmission and they gots it. will get it today.

there's loads of other stockists listed on the crc site though; mitre10, bunnings, hammer, etc...

i was using turtle wax hevay duty car wash (the green stuff) but have since found that normal dish washing liquid does a just as good job for less deniro.

I have a cut and polish compound i use on the tank, front/top fairing and rear section, and then use maquiars Xgeneration spray on polish with a special $24 rag that gets it looking real nice.

Clean the bike pretty much every weekend or whenever it starts looking crap.

Dishwashing shit cleans things up not too bad but by Jebus it don't half make your paint lose its luste fairly quick!!

I'd shy away from it and any other 'strong' cleaners - use stuff meant for the job and safe with alloy/paint etc.

Wash with wool wash from a supermarket. If it's gentle emough for woolen fabrics it'll be fine for the bike. Use Simple green or similar on hard to shift dirt around the engine, wheels etc.

I, hose bike down, use this Moto stuff from Motomail, use a cloth, water blast (only do metal bits close), then use a wash/waz, hose down, leather and then polish with wax......all in that order and takes me 2 hours tops and I do that 1 a month but just use the Moto stuff etc other times.
