Flicked around (esp. when my daughter came in the room) and yeah WINJa scarily accurate. I'm generally extremely sceptical of shit like that but that was hairs on the back of my neck started up. So I kicked my daughter out and went back to Victoria.

I'm a sceptic. Sure they were right on a few things, contradicting one another on others (age of killer, what happened straight after the poor girl got into the car etc). I don't trust commercialy driven TV channels or video/production editing.

And you just don't know what was said to them off camera that may have helped them.

It was a high profile case in its time after all.

But the mother in law is convinced though. Then again she says I'm,"gifted". Apparently I have an, "aura". I think she means aroma.

In my line of business I get to see a lot of psychics, natural healers and such.
For the most part at least 90% of psychics just use bullshit techniques that make em look good. Another 9% have certain ability, like can predict certain things about your future, but only from where you stand at that point in time, if you do something the next day that changes your life even just a bit, then all bets are off on the future they predicted for you. Then you get the one percent that appear to truly have a gift, I've only met one thus far, actually it was my wife that met him 10 years back, he told her stuff about me that even I did not know till years later ....freaky.

The 2 comedians Pen and Teller do a series called bullshit, they exposed a lot of the tellie psychics as frauds, turns out the psychics had "assistants" who would pump certain people invited to the show for info.
I did note that some of Pen and Tellers stuff they spouted was bullshit too. As with most things in life, somewhere in the middle of two extremes lies balance....

I prefer to create my own reality, hence me farming out the kids this weekend so I can race my ZX9R at Taupo. Dickytoo just put a muzzy 998cc kit in it and are sorting out jetting and the like to suit :woohoo:

Saw that one too, thought it was pretty good stuff, but ya just don't know what they were told "off camera" despite the denials given by the Producers.

Interesting about the test the psychics were given, of a little known but solved murder and of the 170 odd "Psychics" tested, only 8 made the grade.

Guess ya never know though...what if....?????

P.S. Missed Victorias....bugger!!!!

there is an art in being a psychic - reading people and their reactions, and reacting to it and being just vague enough that you still sound specific but leave some wriggle room, and let people fill in the gaps themselves.

Try reading a horoscope critically and objectively and youŽll see what i mean....

Did she read that in the beans?

Yup. I think she's septic.

I scammed people for years in one of the places I worked, making them believe I was psychic using Tarot cards. I say scammed - I never actually charged them for it. I simply used to ask them to pick 9 cards from the pack, place them face down on the table, then one by one turn them over and begin telling them a yarn about their present, past and future. It's amazing how accurate you can be with wide ranging sweeping generalities. Especially when you say things that people want to hear.

"There's a stranger in your life" - maybe they were having an affair, maybe a new baby in the family, even a new postie etc etc
"Something good is just about to happen" - maybe they're getting a new car etc

Leading questions are always good. But you never follow them through straight away - but wait 5-10 mins, then amaze them with an answer they'd already given you. My missis has a tape recorded during one of her many visits to a particular 'famous' medium, and he did exactly this to her. Despite the fact that the missis said she didn't know how he knew these things about me the missis had already told him things that she shouldn't have, because he'd disarmed her with his charm. Then he kept trying to work out exactly what it was I did for a living, again, asking leading questions then trying out different professions. As the missis didn't know exactly what I did - he only told her what she thought to be fact, not what was actually fact.

I even spun some names to people I sometimes read for. John is a good name - every fker knows a John. The overwhelming majority of the time I'd say something that hit a nerve with the people I would 'read' to. It's all about suggestion and playing on what people want to hear. Apparently I was seen as being a true psychic, with people recommending me to a load of their friends n family etc. I read cards for strangers as well. Same principle - be vague - tell them what they want to hear etc.

I almost feel guilty now for deceiving them. But I honestly did it to prove a point to begin with, then realised I was making people happy, which was cool. And I took a lot of shit for admitting I was bullshitting to them all when I admitted all to them at a later date. Sorry ladies.

I'm not saying there's no truth whatsoever in what these psychics say, but as has already been said, the overwhelming majority of people are either bullshitters or are kidding themselves and others. Then there's that 1 person …..

If you want to believe, you'll believe anything. Personally I like firm scientific evidence.

It's like reading the daily Horriblescopes. I didn't actually read the date too closely at first - thought I was a Leo for years (early sept.). Didn't make any difference they're so general they pretty much fit whatever's happening in your life if you wan them to.

Didn't. Does now, and knows how much I earn, and shares a freakin bank account, and credit card, but wont share the freakin bills.

If psychics are real, the ones in radio talkshows won't need to ask the caller his/her name, phone number or 'what he/she wants to know'.

The psychics should simply answer straightaway without even asking the questions.

But then, logically, because there was no question there cannot be an answer. The psychic becomes simply a newsreader...or a news that has not taken place.

Clever edting makes for a great show, like '' man on the moon'' was it staged or for real, i believe they did it, saw it on tv in 69'...... thats my view, last nights show was fantastic, those lady's could have been feed that imfo' for tv sake. Would have been more believable if the camara rolled the whole way up Senic dr not edited like it was, then i would have been convinced 100%. The phone call to the cops about the ring?.... they said it was the killer who called, i believe that, but what if they said it was Mr Whippy who called !! would i believe that? yea probably.......... could have all been an illusion to force the killer into doing something stupid.... saying his name? Mr policeman has always had a short list and a prime suspect but nothing to convict him on, they said that on the show. If he was watching last night, it may have been enuff for to put a foot wrong soon.... hopfully...... My view only :sherlock:

Didn't see this show, but am a bit bored (nothing to do at work today!) so will just say that although many of these folk are cons, some are not.
I met a lady who is a clairvoyant who knew that my mother had lost twin girls before I came along. I tried to work out how she could have figured that one out- never could.
