Tonight, I was walking down our drive, to clear the letter box, and I can hear a dickhead in a fast car, coming down our street, and he was fair hoofing it, as I get to the end of our drive, I looked right, to see if I can snatch his license plate and report him, but a soccer ball flies out of the house 2 drives up, and closely following it was a child.

My heart stopped, as the whole slow motion thing kicked in, as this Subaru hit the brakes hard, and locked up, whilst the child had semi-stalled on the kerb with one foot on the road. The Subaru rolled over the ball, and stopped 2 feet off the kids right leg.

I advanced very quickly to the drivers side door of the Subaru, opened it, and dragged the occupant from the car (no seatbelt), and threw him up against the side of his vehicle, in a very forceful way, and got within 5 inches of his face, and exploded into a lecture that had a lot of F words in it.

As ashamed as I am to say, I considering beating the tar out of this kid right then and there, and it was only the crying of the child that meant I didn't do it.

I have had enough of this shit, its one thing to be in control of a motor vehicle, and have a genuine accident and hurt someone, but knowingly caning a vehicle in a residential area is like firing a gun blindfolded, eventually, someones gonna die.

why do you think hoons have a bad name, relative to us. We go quicker, but not in residential areas. Its plain stupid.

They tend to realise only when they have killed someone, and then its too late isn't it?? Hopefully this one was lucky and learned their lesson free of charge.

To me, no problem with what you did mate.

Jesus, seems like all the subeys were out speeding today.

Had one wanker at the intersection of Mt Wellington highway go speeding down te-irangi towards the motorway onramp (I think) when he saw me in the mirrors. He probably got up to about 80-90 before someone mis-judged his speed and pulled out from the pakuranga mall. He hit the anchors very hard and then swerved, probably missed the rav4 by about 10-20cm. Some people forget that cars don't swerve well under brakes. Dumb fuck.

Edit: good on ya Kronos... I seen a pic of you before and that guy would have been shaarting himself!

You should have popped him dude...he obviously doesnt know how serious this could have been and that would have made him think a bit...Im not one for violence but there is a time and a place....

Some fuckers just deserve a beating.

Hopefully the shock of nearly killing someone and then having some dude rip you out of your car, slam you against the car and hold you there as he shouts into your face has managed to get the messege (message?) through that thick head of his.

it sucks that dicks in cages think driving fast means they're cool. glad that kid wasn't hurt, but I wish I had seen you drag that guy out that car...

Normally, I wouldn't do things like this. Typically, I am a selfish "play safe" kiwi, who likes bitching about things, but won't do shit to change them, Yesterday however, something snapped, and I literally saw my own daughter standing in the path of this car, and I guess that caused the "explosion".

Without sounding like I am bragging, the guy in question was crying when he re-entered his vehicle and drove off, so I am certain he got the message to at least not do that shit down my street.

I was talking to my neighbour later last night, and her sister lives about 10 mins away, and people in her street got so sick of the problem, they would all collectively run out their gates when they heard a speeder, and step out onto the road, so sometimes there would be 15 or more adults swearing sulfurously, standing in the middle of the road, while a very sheepish looking dickhead had to steer around all of them to actually get away. This is a great idea, and it's stopped the problem they had completely.

I might speak to the occupants of our street about a similar idea.

Well done Kronos - hope he learned his lesson. My friends dad was killed by a speeding dickhead who T boned him as pulled out of his driveway on to the main road in the middle of Nelson. This is a 50kph zone and the boys in blue reckoned he was doing 80-90kph judging by the skid marks. Sorry to say that I saw at first hand the pain of losing a loved one due to someone else's lack of respect for the law & other road users. It was not pretty. I guess we all hooned around a bit when we were kids but the power and speed of today's cars are well out of sync with the abilities of those driving them.

Bloody top effort Kronos! Though if he's sppeding in a residential area AND not wearing a seat belt I wonder if the message will get through. Lets hope it does.

Sounds perfect. You've given someone a verbal beating they're not going to forget - he won't admit to it in front of his mates, but it's thoroughly wedged in his head. At the same time you've done about as much as you could do without receiving a visit from the Ministry of Bacon yerself.

Spot on. You might have saved a few lives in the long run.

Good on ya.

Still shoulda bashed him thou :-) Even if it was only a couple of jabs to the crown jewels.. Guaranteed to reinforce the message, whilst leaving nothing in the way of physical evidence you bashed him for the ministry of bacon to see.

Good stuff, wish I could do the same to wankers like this but my bosses would kind of 'frown' on such action. (would have been tempted to smack his head into the steering wheel "was'nt wearing a seatbelt, must have happened when he stopped" before dragging him out)

i disagree.. this is no point taking the "law" into your own hands and physically abusing someone.

I fully agree with what Kronos did, the kid was ok, the kid driving got a yelling that he will obviously never forget and Kronos delt to him, let of steam and stayed out of court/jail by doing so...

Top effort Kronos.. :)

awesome work Kronos. :2thumbsup

the only thing is that this guy's not likely to go tell his mates about the whole episode, so you might have to look into that idea of the neighbours sorting out speeders. Kind of like a neighbourhood watch programme....

just out of intrest were the parents of the kid down the road aware of what happened/nearly happened?

I think at the end of the day if Kronos had beaten the kid he would have been resentful, now he is regretful. Good job!

Time to educate the child chasing the ball too.

Make sure someone reminds the child NOT to run like that again. Remember, look right, look left, and cross.

I think it is time to start educating the pedestrian too. I am shocked by some pedestrian qualities.

Great stuff - there's no way he will tell his mates this guy dragged him out of his car and yelled at him, but I bet he would have made sure everyone knew about the "idiot who dragged me out of my car and thumped shit out of me" - so your actions were spot on.

What annoys me is how many people try and justify this kind of speeding by saying it is personal choice. No, it isn't. Personal choice is choosing to put your foot down in a location where no one is likely to be hurt. In this instance, anyone moving into the path of this driver was in danger. Kids need to be educated on not running out into the road without stopping and looking both ways, but what if it had been an adult who saw the car but judged in a 50kph zone that they would have plenty of time to cross safely? Or like the poor guy whose father was killed coming out of his driveway - you don't expect traffic to be travelling at those speeds in residential areas. It is like pointing a loaded gun into a crowd.

12th January 2006, 10:28
Well done kronos. You taught the fecker far more than a speed camera ever would.

I haven't seen any near misses with pedestrians, despite schools nearby. I live across the road from the hospital against a busy road. It is unbelievable how many twats with loud exhausts (2 and 4 wheels) gas it up hard in either street...just senseless.

The worst have to be the labouring open-piped hardley-rollingsons. At least the jap bikes get from one end of the street to the other pretty quickly!

There is a time and place... this street is neither.

So your complaining about peaple on 2 and 4 wheels going too fast through the area, then complain about harleys not going quik enough and that atleast the jap bikes go fast through that area?

Doesn't make alot of sense man.

I wholeheartedly agree with what you did - but I can't help but think of all those people who post in here about "doing runners from the cops" and "how fast does your bike go" or "what's the fastest speed you've ever done".

How many bodies have to be scraped up off the road before "kids" of all ages learn?

Hah! Right you are...I'm not suggesting the Harleys go faster but rather go more quietly. Was thinking more about the noise than anything else. The Harleys drown out conversation/the stereo/tv...everything until they get up the end of the street and have to slow for the intersection.

Well done Kronos! You did the right thing, as others have well pointed out.

I would have been tempted to take his keys down to the local station and hand them over to the policeman on duty. Let the kid shit himself even more, wondering what was in store when he went to get his keys. (no need to say anything to the police if you didn't want to "just found these keys & handing them in") but the kid knows where to get them from...

Funny aint it, how attitudes change quicker than the blink of an eye...

Kinda like the idea if snapping a key off in the ignition and handing them in to the cops, make the little shit mess himself even further wondering what the cops might do. Would have loved your story to tell about how they were "acquired" without fear of any wrongdoing on your part either, by the way...WELL DONE.... Yeah, thanks for the comments, I was in two minds as to whether I'd actually post this, because I was not 100% sure my actions were "clean", and to be really honest, I was within a hairs width of taking this kid to the cleaners in a big way, I was the angriest I can remember being in years.

I spose I don't condone violence performed in a vigilante style, when other methods could be used, and yield the same, if not better results. Typically people who get the snot beaten out of them have nothing to be scared about anymore, but the ones who get threatened have that unholy fear of anticipation of what could happen. Well thats how I see it.

I did speak to the childs mother about the youngster not paying respect to the proper road rules, and even the child admitted she didn't do it by the book.

I have just come home to a pile of baked goodies, and little presents on my back doorstep, apparently a lot of the neighbours saw my little outburst, and now i have treats to last me till about June/July.... hehe, thats pretty decent of them .

Sometimes anger is good.

I last lost my rag quite a while ago, and I know what you mean - it's like the red mist coming down on you, but the ability to moderate your behaviour and not smack the guy in spite of that is where it's at.

Sounds like the neighbours know it too.

Your actions were clean, although possibly not PC (re the language). I maintain there is a time and place for that language and you found it.

good you, mate! sounds like you did everything well and knew when to stop! hopefully, the scare of nearly hitting the kid will do something to him. maybe talk to his mates and tell them. but i doubt it.

i like the idea of the neighbours blocking the road like that. sounds like it would work well, provided they step out with enough time for the driver to slow and stop.
