a bit before christmas, gamgee sold his VT250F to a guy in rangiora:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports-tourer/auction-41600813.htm

then after that, this happened:

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=22120&highlight=vt250f

i'm currently in the market for a bike, and after a long time of looking i came across a VT250 that looked suspiciously like gamgees... it had the tape on the fuel tank and the rust on the bottom of the muffler like in the pics on trademe and everything! sent a PM to gamgee and he told me how screwed the engine was, and verified the rego as being exactly the same bike. what scares me, though, is that i almost, ALMOST put a f^&*cking offer on it! he was wanting $2250, and bought it for $1760!!

I WOULD LIKE TO PUT A WARNING OUT TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIKE BUYERS IN CHCH, DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE! EVER! the guy didnt tell me about any of the problems, he said he bought it before christmas and that he was selling it because he couldnt afford to have 2 cars and a bike at the same time. dodgy, dodgy man.

and thanks again to gamgee for pointin out the problems, saved me a couple of grand and a hell of a lot of trouble!!!! :headbang:

yeah don't touch that bike, rego 13thx the guy phoned me asking for help to find an engine, because it had broken a cam shaft (according to him) he said he had put race bike oil in it, which i guess is super lightweight, so it was either that or the fact that the vt250's have a dodgy fuel pump and that stopped working, either way i wouldn't touch that bike, or any other vt250 for that matter

Thanks for the advice. A neighbour ( I live in Rangiora) is currently looking for a 250 for his son. I'll pass on the 'avoid' message.

Could someone please PM me the rego.

it's possible, but unlikely, parts for the vt250f let alone an entire engine are rare, so if he did, good on him, but i still wouldn't buy one because of the oil pump issues, it's only going to end up happening again
