My first post on here I'm located in Wales UK but we're hoping to move to NZ within the next year.
Suz my other half will be coming along for the ride too.
I've worked for the AA as a breakdown Patrol for the last 32 yrs and feel it's time for a change of job and country.
I ride a 2002 blackbird and 02 r1150gs I'm a member of the UK blackbird forum B.I.R.D. and have been in contact with Geoff James from this forum who's been a great source of info and suggested I join KB.
We're coming over to NZ for 2 weeks holiday in april for a look around not long I know but it's all the time we can get off work at the mo.

Man that first pic looks quite surreal.
Lots of after market stuff on that bike? Colours of lowers etc look a bit non-standard.

Just kidding about the chains in case you think I'm an idiot
He's Welsh like Biff - they don't actually ride in the snow, just wheel it out, take photos and put it away for the 3 days of summer:2thumbsup.
Welcome Pete and look forward to hearing you soon.

Ta for the welcome guys the birds paint isn't standard something I cooked up there's a few mods and sods I've done to make her go quicker, stop faster, and handle better.
Snow chains are a no no though as they mark the wheels
Geoffs right though wheeled it out, photo then back in
I do about 25000m a year between the 2 bikes thats all pleasure riding on mainly West/mid Wales roads which are lol twisty twisty twisty
I'm not sure how they compare to NZ roads perhaps someone on here would like to comment.

i'm sure Blackbird will have told you all about it, or will do...
spent 4yrs in the UK, and some parts of wales really reminded me of home. i found the welsh A roads in better condition generally. NZ roads can get bumpy...
had a great ride one day; from London, over to _____ ?(end of the motorway, just about), up the middle to ____, then back home via the Cotswolds...just under 1000km!!!
i must go refresh my memory and check out the map.
PM us closer to the time mate,
and welcome!

Just move here mate. Well worth it. Me and the missus had four and a half years in the UK before we came to Auckland. She is a Kiwi that had been away for five years before the UK stint and I am an Aussie by birth. It is great here. Don't get me wrong, I love the roads in Wales and Europe but here is pretty good. Also bought a bike over here with me from the UK. PM me and will drop you my email. Happy to answer questions and try catch up when you are here.

Where are you heading when you come here in April? If you are in our area at all during your stay (100km north of Wellington, 50km south of Palmerston North), you're welcome to stay for a couple of nights. My husband would be happy to wax lyrical about the roads in NZ!
My family was originally from Treguff (south Glamorgan) many generations ago, but apart from the pronunciation of my hideous Welsh surname, I don't speak the lingo either!

Welcome to Kiwibiker Blu, and glad to read you've chosen our beautiful country to live out your days in. Will be a pleasure to possibly meet you and see that trick Bird of yours in the flesh (just traded my '97 1100XX two weeks ago)! Nice touch with the matching blue paddock stand btw...:headbang:
