hey i wanna sell my comet. Just brought it last week from Mt. eden motorcycles. Theres nothing wrong with the bike only that its too much of a headache to ride it. Its just that i dont know how to ride a bike. its a 2005 model with only 3000kms. Never been dropped. Never done much riding since i brought it. If you find anything wrong with the bike i can fix it since its still in warranty from mt eden motorcycles. Lokkin for a round $5500 or near offer.

I have the right to withdraw the deal since its also advertised somewhere else.

Don't give up so easily.
You are going to loose a heap of $'s if you sell it now.
Why don't you splash out on some rider training first, then maybe it will become a lot easier, and you will discover the thrills of two wheels.

If you are literally getting headaches, then go back to Mt Eden MC's and berate them for selling you a helmet that dosent fit properly!

XP@ is right One needs to give it a bit of time getting to grips with the mechanics of riding a motorcycle. Is it a confidence thing? Then get some training do a defensive riding course or similar. This will help if one has had a bit of a scare out there on the road by learning how to react to differing situations one finds themselves in. It would be a bit of a shame to chuck it in before one has had time to learn and enjoy.
Though in the end motorcycling is not for everyone and this may not be your thing, either way its our decision to ride or not.

You must have had a reason to get the bike in the first place.... been registered here since Nov so been thinking about it for a while.

Are you doing this on your own? Guessing you don't have biking mates to help you and ride with. I would probably have given up if it weren't for having company to learn with, and meeting some of the people here at KB. It would have been a BIG mistake... I really wish I'd started riding earlier.

There are lots of really good people here that would help you with one on one tuition if you put your hand up - I'm not experienced enough.

So if your reasons for getting this bike in the first place are still valid, (a week is not long enough to learn) then do something about it. Go on Weasels ride, do a BRONZ course, take up an offer that may come further down this thread, and of course keep posting here!!

With the other post so far, keep it, dont give in so quickly, we have a friend in AKL that has one also, he's just past the 10,000 k mark at xmas, he's probably had it 18mths, got it from the same place as you did. Its his first bike, he left our place news yrs day and went to Kawarau in the BOP, then onto Taupo the next day, he went to the ' cold kiwi ' last year, ran up a hill naked :moon: each to thier own i guess. So much fun to be had in the bike world. Keep it mate.

I would come but im too scared to go near a traffic signal because my bike will stop. I only drive in the small lanes near my house. Im too afraid to venture out on the main roads. I would like to come and learn something from you'll but i may create a traffic jam at the signals.

What ya need to do is let one of the guys or gals come round and help you with some tuition. Most they'll charge is you letting them tell you how good they aren't (and maybe a couple of beers) You're in pretty good hands here and these people will help you tons with your confidence. Without volunteering anybody's services...?

No sense in wasting money you've just spent. You wouldn't have bought if you didn't want to ride it.

I found myself stalling a couple times when I first started, once right infront of a copper at a roundabout. The problem was I wasn't shifting down quick enough. Just give yourself plenty of time to slow down and change down before you think you need to and slowly let the clutch out.

As for starting the bike from stationary you should be able to do that in idle, its all about how you use the clutch, let it out very slowly until it catches and hold it until the bikes speed evens out.

It sounds like you don't feel safe because your basic skills aren't as good as you would like. Practise on a netball court or something just on idle, the slower a motorcycle is going the harder it is to control. If you can do everything on idle, 50kmph is a piece of cake.

As the others have said., stick with it! It will be worth it in the end. Once you have got some k's under you belt it will all start to click for you. Im sure some fellow KBers up your way will put their hands up to help you out.
