Hi Ya'll,
Monday was my girlfriends birthday, she's just turned 17 and absolutly loves motorbikes. (Just taught her the basics to riding recently). However i feel that it might be inappropriate for her almost 18 year old teenage boyfriend to give her a pillion session around the track on the weekend. Her mothers words were: Quote: "If anything happens i'll tear you limb from limb". So therefore i have had an idea, as she is super keen to have a ride on a proper motorcycle (instead of farm bike) would one of our older, more experienced and mature riders be willing to give her a ride during the pillion session? (MSTRS type or similar ;) )I have gear that will fit her available all we'll need is a willing and sensible(ish) rider to make her day?. :)

Fatjims Duc does not have a pillion seat, for a bloody good reason too. (Nor footpegs, eh Stu!)
However, the VTR is always open to young single women.

Hey Frosty, thanks for the great day mate. Had an absolutely awesome time and improved my riding so much.
Anyone who didn't talk to me, or doesn't know who I am, I was the guy on the blue Honda Spada absolutely canig it and passing everyone. Sorry if I got a little too close to people, but to the guy on the blue R1 who got black flagged, grow up and stop showing off.
All in all, a great day. No chicken strips and fresh hero knob scrapes.

Yeh great day eh... weather looked a bit iffy to start with, but turned out great.
Managed to get my toe down in the second outing, and keep doing it so much after that I think I need some new toe-sliders :D
Only one adventure off the track for me, but kept her upright so no issues, got back on the track and had some more fun.
Damn that ride back was painful :(

Thanks to Frosty and everyone else that made today possible.

Thanks Frosty . You did it again (organised a great track day, not decapitated yourself)
I can recommend the Twin Peaks Motor Inn with a ripper Irish pub next door and top meal. heaps of the MX GP fans and riders there. Taupo just rocks as events central, so much going on in town.
Bloody hell that A1 full track is the biz. Loved it. Really pleased with my riding this time compared to the cold day in May. Got to love those chicanes aswell. Was grinding both kneesliders to dust with a grin from ear to ear doing it. I'd say that was the fastest I've gone on a track. That must be one of our best 'bike' tracks now with so many sweeping bends you just lean and lean and lean and...
Have to say 4 groups was too many though. I gave up waiting 60 mins for the next fast group session to come around. So I kept jumping into the earlier group. I reckon 3 groups is the right mix to ensure you don't have such a long gap between rides. I twice ran two sessions in a row but that was too much for the tyres to handle.
For thoses with the 05 and 06 model ZX6Rs I restored the 10hp to my bike before the track day and can confirm the rumours that our non-euro spec bikes are kneecapped to pass Yank standards. Took 10 minutes to hotwire the soft limiter that robs our bikes of 10hp from 13,000 revs to the 15,750 redline. Today was my first chance to test it and for sure the bike pulled harder to redline. If you want more details check out Kawiforums or pm me.:done:
Watching Loosebruce and Sugi battle it out was fun too. You Guys are right up there with the best.

Almost turned out to be a disaster of a day for me, not being able to get my bike started 'til about 2:30pm...and then having to put it all back together...
Big ups to Bugjuice and Postie for helping me to get the bike going. It was good to learn a bit more about the mechanical stuff, and learn how to fix the problem in future if it ever comes up again.
Also big ups go out to Frosty for helping out a muppet with a bung bike.
Gosh that track is awesome....can't wait to go back.

what is the point of having a bike and growing up????
what is the reason of having a bike???

hahahaha
thanks frosty!!!!!
and the support team... it was great to not have a job to do:sunny:
i also want to thank sugalite (SP?)
he took me around the track at warp speed 11.
i have never known a bike could lean over sooooooooooooo much while breaking and not fall down, i was convinced that my elbo would rub on the ground at one point... the straight line speed was no eye opener or breaking into the left hander, it was the ability of the man to make it so smooth with me on the back trying hard not to fall off and not to upset his balance and yet he compensated for all my short comings...
i was scared shitless acouple of times and yet i wanted more....
i know i will never get to his standerd but i now know so much more about the POSSIBLE....
if it wasn't for you frosty i still wouldn't have know....
thank you
when is the next one?

Twas farken spectacular mate! I just want to make sure you're okay coz you bounced a bit in front of me. You don't need to post if you're too emabarrassed (I won't mention the type of bike or colour either!) but if someone can let me know he walked away that would be great.

Lovely day all in all, managed to keep it shiny side up.
The fastest rider there was easily Sugilite followed by the world's fastest Pizzaboy.
I was still riding horribly clumsily (as usual)- over braking and not leaning the bike much - I managed to have a hoot regardless and the upside of riding well within my limits was I didn't have any moments.
Thanks Shaun for all the setup work and advice it sure made the bike much, much easier to handle and made the little tankslappers I kept getting a lot easier to control.
Thanks Liam for the lift down and Frosty for you know what.
Sugilite -- you sure can ride can't ya?? Thanks for the pillion session. I swear if I tried I could have scraped my elbows. - Just like AJ said.
The first time you left the pits and entered the sweeper we went so low I thought we were lowsiding, then you went lower at the next corner and the next ... WOW!!! Didn't know it was possible to change up and down gears while fully banked over either.
Thanks to the Qk's for the company back home.
Sorry Zapf I thought you were behind me and waited for you at the BP - the one outside Taupo on the way to Auckland with the attached Diner. When you didn't show after about 15 mins I thought you weren't coming so headed off. We reached Auckland in about two and a half days/month/hours (delete appropriate) so I don't know if you would have been comfortable riding with us - especially since you were riding with two large panniers and an inexperienced pillion.

Thanks Frosty for the awesome day.
Good to catch up with people and see more newbies having a go and enjoying themselves.
Thanks to Shaun and Two Smoker I've finally got a rear tyre that doesn't cold shear and hangs in there all day. All I have to do is use it properly now and find some other excuse for not going fast enough. Managed to have the balls to cut my braking distance down going into the chicane at the end of the straight. Jeez it was pretty exciting once you cocked up the timing of my downshifts lol. Just gotta trust that front tyre and I'll be away. Managed to give Cleve the slip in the last session too. Once he gets his suspension done there will be no catching him.
Mucked around following K19 at the end of the sessions. Won't be long before that girl is giving me the learn round Taupo. Just have to keep her on a slower bike, and keep making it slower. Otherwise she will be insufferable.
We need to see more chicks out there to put the old lady in her place.

What a great day, Thanks to Frosty and all the guys and girls that made the day rumn smooth.
I could never quite see the point in toe sliders before yesterday but now as a look at the big flat spot of missing rubber on my boots I kinda see the advantage, and judging by the amount of missing metal on the foot pegs I might just have to look at a new bike before the next track day.

fukin awesome day.
Thanks Frosty, and everyone who helped with the day.
Personally learnt a shed load about myself and the bike, more than I have ever done since I've had it. I lost my mojo a while ago, after too many changes at once on the bike. Now, I've got it back and then some! Never had my knee down or held a decent line or had a good wheelie.. all that was broke this weekend. Still buzzin now, and my first rooted knee slider is being offered to the Gods of Speed..
Thanks again Frosty, n guys..
and everyone else who did their stuff, and cheers TwoSmoke for tailin me. I'll give ya the learn next time matey ;)

Yeah mate, good stuff :niceone: Stoked for that you felt good on the bike again…I know how much it sucks to be playing below your game.
You must have been pressing that knee in to the ground pretty damn hard, ‘cos I’ve never seen sliders with big melted waves of plastic hanging off like on yours. Def keep that one for show :)

Bugger - that lil hurricane was imaculate as well.
How's the bruised Trumpy SN4PD? Are you going to get real friendly with your insurance company?
As I said previously - I was a bit worried about the fella that low-sided at the end of the last slow session - was anyone seriously injured yesterday? If not then I'll know for sure that bouncing along the track did him/her no lasting harm..(the bike slid but the rider bounced quite a bit on knees and elbows) My last sight of them was on hands and knees looking as though they were going to barf. Had to fight the urge to stop and help - knew best idea was for me to get off the track ASAP so the ambo could do it's thang if necessary.

Bruised? I just cleaned some of its makeup off :p
Only thing that needs replacing is the right rearset, rest is cosmetic, well see what the insurance company say in a few days (still processing my application ATM).

The learning that takes place at a trackday can also be absorbed by osmosis, I rode home with a much higher skill level than I had on the ride up - go figure that one!!

Great day. Got sunburnt:sunny:. Gave hubby the learn (was it 3 times?:p) Will be doin it again but staying the Sat night and Sunday....... Was f@#ked by the time we got home. Still sore :whocares:
Only 1 small gripe - Could we possibly have the motards in their own group next time? (Maybe have 3 sportsbike groups and 1 for Motards) They take different lines to us, had a few close calls with them cutting infront - (someone even had their elbow knocked mid-corner) and I personally found them really off-putting (hence pulling into the pits then restarting again, just to get shit together). Is it just me or did others have the same problem? (I think they were only in the med/fast group?)
Otherwise bloody awesome day, learnt alot about the bike and my abilities - still no kneedown tho............might consider a trackday/race bike, bit cheaper to repair/replace than the R1/ZX10..........

I had an absolute BLAST with the Motards! Those guy's ROCK!!! I don't think they'd have enough numbers to require their own session at a track-day. Besides....they're so much fun to ride with! If you had a problem with them,(enough to make you have to pull into the pits) it could have been a good idea to change groups? Maybe?

What an awesome day!! Thanks Frosty and crew - If your aim was to create a most enjoyable event for all, then you succeeded admirably. Unlike some track days, KB trackdays have great atmosphere and I believe our organiser's enthusiastic personality is responsible for this. With odds stacked against him eg having to use the old pits, then having those pits being used for tyre storage, he still manages a well run and organised event. A great effort!!:niceone:
Had a great time in the group with the motards!! Didn't have any problems with them myself - but often had to wait for one of the three straights to get by. Difficult to keep everyone happy with some wanting fewer groups so we don't have as long a wait between rounds, and others wanting more, also with valid reasons!
Awesome time riding with someone on a green ZX10R (not QKKid) in the second session before it got slightly damp and massively impressed with Goblins speed thru the twisties:2thumbsup :- you use every bit of your available horspower so well and were one of the few who used the same lines that Aaron Slight showed me! There was also a guy on a black Fireblade in our group who gave me the learn, and learn I did well. Your speed into the sweeper onto the main straight, and the line around it - thanks for the lesson and the show - that was the most difficult corner for me.
Thanks for making the effort to put this event on for us Frosty!! :niceone: Better register for the next one!!

A big thanks to Frosty and his team of helpers. A great track day for all. The experienced and not so experienced. The organisation was pretty impressive for what are basically a bunch of amateur enthusiasts. Keep it up.
You can probably never make everyone happy. 3 groups or 4... Super motards mixed in or not...
Based on the actual number of riders, 4 groups was probably the best. Perhaps 15 minute sessions to speed things up is the only suggestion I would have if people felt the wait was too long, but basically I was really happy with the day.
Great to see some of the usual old faces as well as meet a few new ones who are not there in the usual KB race gang.
Big thanks again to Paul and Jill. Teaming and racing with you is a big part of the reason I have loved my return to racing. Paul, you ARE a quick old bugger and I imagine we will to and fro on the track for the rest of our racing lives. Jill, blooooody hell you are going so well. As Paul says it won't be long before you will be beating us, even if you stay on a slower bike...
Also a big congrats to Kicking Zebra on the birth of his new baby daughter.

Had to fight the urge to stop and help - knew best idea was for me to get off the track ASAP so the ambo could do it's thang if necessary.
hee...that was me, and yip - I'm all good thanks! I remember rolling over and over then being too dizzy to get up for a second. Totally wore the lower part of the leg off my trou, time for a replacement. oh, and the entire left hand side of the 250 as well...
Despite my evidently spectacular off on the last lap of the last session...I had an absolutely awesome day! I can't wait for my next go at the track. Thanks heaps to gixxer 4 eva for scraping me off the track, Frosty for running the show and everyone else who helped out - fantastic!

i aint a big fan of that and told the guy so afterwards. Maybe i'll drop
down a group and go fuck with teh slower guys huh? i do believe Frosty
advised to leave twice the room you would when racing, so thats at least
a metre huh?... play nice guys:sunny:
In my limited trackday experience, I have noticed that people with mirrors still on tend to change lines when they see another bike behind them, which can make overtaking difficult. This is not a dig at anyone....just an observation.

Like I said, not a dig at anyone. I dont know who anyone is on the track, but the riders who had mirrors still on and working, made erratic line changes when they saw me coming. Maybe all mirrors should be fully taped up or removed altogether.

I was in that group and had no problems with the Chook Chasers then I never got passed by them :) , Had one beside me at one stage , twist of the thottle and :spudwave:
Seriously there were a big group of them at the last Moto TT day and there were no worries.
Dave
aaaahhh, you must have been the RED TL which kept catching and passing me at the sweeper at the start/finish.
To QKCHK: the more trackdays you do the less you get surprised by a close pass. That's why its really important to hold your line. I was passed quite closely by one motard rider in the centre corners, but we both held our separate lines and there was no unpredictibility in where the other was going to be. If you find that too upsetting, then you need to consider moving groups.
sugilite
6th November 2006, 23:32
i also want to thank sugalite (SP?)
he took me around the track at warp speed 11.
i have never known a bike could lean over sooooooooooooo much while breaking and not fall down, i was convinced that my elbo would rub on the ground at one point... the straight line speed was no eye opener or breaking into the left hander, it was the ability of the man to make it so smooth with me on the back trying hard not to fall off and not to upset his balance and yet he compensated for all my short comings...
i was scared shitless acouple of times and yet i wanted more....
i know i will never get to his standerd but i now know so much more about the POSSIBLE....
Glad you had an exciting time lol.
I'm pleased you mentioned being smooth. You may have noticed I do not "blip" on down changes. The two blipping threads I've mentioned that in KB I've had heaps of people telling me you "must" blip to be smooth!
You will have to fit elbow scrapers to your leathers for the next ride eh :Punk:
Glad you enjoyed the experience.
there are somethings that cant be put into words easily .... Sugilite i thank you:clap: .... being pillion with you was an awsom privilege & experance:hug: (lol next time i will protest loudly bout getting off)
/QUOTE]
Hopefully Frosty may include pillion bikes in all group one sessions next time  Glad you had fun!
[QUOTE=SN4PD;814419]JSG your not even going to thank Sugilite (I assume it was him), for the pillion ride on KB?!?!? Yesterday you wanted to have his babies..........
Thats impossible dude, I got the snip years ago, got it done at the vets, it was cheaper there and the dog biscuits were still better than public hospital food!
I was starting to feel seriously worried.
He told me he hadn't crashed in 7 years.
Hey! That was once in 6 years on road race bikes! Then I go and drop the 10 in the 3rd session pushing an old front tyre to hard!
I only went about 75% on the pillion rides, we were not even scraping the foot pegs!
When I was scrapping it out in the post classic class in the actrix series, I had it's foot peg on the deck, still hard on the brakes twisting the bars to force it to go around that infield hairpin on the long circuit lap after lap
A huge thanks to Frosty and his merry band of helpers for putting an awesome day on :Punk:
Thanks to Richard for all he is doing. The new Akrapovics sound really awesome and the power increase was very noticeable! I was got at a low 1.39 in the 3rd session so sweet.
It was really good to put faces to names and to meet so many for the 1st time.

Yea turns out her mum didn't really want to hear details:innocent:, Big ups to MSTRS for giving the g/f a pillion :Punk:
Big thanks to FROSTY and tram for an awesome day, i felt it ran very smoothly and group sessions were changing well.
The GPX is now however sporting ground off footpegs and my boots are pretty fooked.( i shoulda fitted toe sliders)
I did have a few interesting experiences though, twice the back end let go due to exhaust hitting the ground but luckily avoided a highside and twice the front tyre began to wander and shudder changin from right to left through the esses on the new half of the track.
I think it's time i moved to a sprot's biek!.
All in all a great day people!

Not so silly - read it again and you'll get it...You said Speights_buds pillion seat was comfy...twice...I suggested it was relative and jokingly suggested that MSTRS has been making you sit on the cowling rather than the pillion seat all this time (when really it's just symptomatic of a dead sussy spring!).

Sorry Zapf I thought you were behind me and waited for you at the BP - the one outside Taupo on the way to Auckland with the attached Diner. When you didn't show after about 15 mins I thought you weren't coming so headed off. We reached Auckland in about two and a half days/month/hours (delete appropriate) so I don't know if you would have been comfortable riding with us - especially since you were riding with two large panniers and an inexperienced pillion.
ah rite, no worries. I was at the BP in town. Funny enough my pillion is quite happy with just 2 days of riding, she even fell asleep until I upped the pace.
I coun't follow you thru the traffic at the risk of knocking off my panniers.

Me and the GN were definately the slowest out on the track, but it doesn't matter I had a great day and the bike lived to do it again (even though writing it off would have been cheaper than freighting it home).
It was my second trackday in a week (and ever) and although this time there wasn't the huge rush of going fast and pushing my limits I definately think I had haigher corner speeds and more lean, the front let go at one stage so I must have been pushing it a little.
A big thanks to Frosty and all the crew for putting on the day and putting up with our shit.
Thanks to LooseBruce as well for the rider training offers, I was an idiot not to find time for it. I'll have to do it next time.
Sorry if I held anyone up out there, it's definately time for a new bike before the next trackday.
