Is to have a 600-750cc bike at the end of it, but i'm not to sure what to get
i want a fully faired sportsbike for under $7000, but i also want it to be reasonably lightweight, the models i've narrowed it down to are:
gsxr600/750
zx6r
zxr750
R6
cbr600rr
next part i'm not sure how to explain, but i took a cbr600f (about a 1990 model) for a ride, and the seat felt really high and more upright, which made the bike feel horrible handling wise, really top heavy, so are there any of those bikes i should take off the list for that reason, i like my bikes to be nimble and easy to throw around, i'm leaning towards a gsxr600 in the 1996-1999 variety, so whats everyones opinions, are there any bikes i'm missing, how am i going to find the others to ride?

Just got the zx7r (also called zxr750 for older models), if you want light weight, don't get one. They weigh in at just over 200kg.
I'm a big heavy guy, so I have no problems throwing it around, in fact, I'm finding I have supreme confidence on it, but apparently a lot of people are put off by the weight.
Personally, I thought the late 90 gixxer 600/750 was extremely ugly (the 3rd and fourth choices, after the zx6r)

I got the same goal but replace those bikes with;
TL1000S
SV1000
VFR800
And one for my Charade!

yeah there are aspects of the design i don't particularly like either, it was more the price, if money wasn't an issue, i'd go kawasaki all the way and get a new zx6r, but of course i'm still a student with 2 years till i finish uni, so money is an issue :thud:

i think both the 750's are more tourer style bikes, so i should probably scratch them off...

yeah i guess thats true, it's just that cbr600f has really put me off tourer's, if they're all like that their is no way i'd buy a tourer, haha i like being cramped a sportsbike riding style, stretched out over the tank

zx6r aparently has a dry weight of around 170kg, which sounds pretty damn appealing to me!

a nice 95 zx6r will be fine, dont solely determine bike choice on physical dimensions without trial, its like saying you dont want sex because shes to loose.

haha :Punk: good call
yeah zx6r is sounding more and more appealing the more i read about it, and i'd rather stick to kwaka's anyway, i'll keep an eye out and see if i can swing a test ride

While if you've got a year then why don't you try and test ride as many bikes that interest you as possible? Then you can decide for yourself.
When it comes down to it, it'll probably be the best deal available that decides which one you get in the end.

yup, i'll try and do that, i'm thinking about just sticking to the 6 hundy's
zx6r
gsxr600
cbr600rr
r6
in that order, because the R6 is probably right outside my price limit

Mt Eden (doesn't help you tho) has a zx6r, about 1996, for $6150 I think...
I am a student as well, money was tight, but since I don't drink, smoke, party etc etc, I spend my money on bikes, bike gear. I went with an awesome bike, but older, so I got a good bike, but older.
The zx7r, or zxr750 is far from being a tourer, definitely a sport bike riding position and performance, and it was intended to be raced as well. It was primarily designed as a road bike, but could be raced.
Will be posting up a thread introducing my bike, have a look at the pics, it ain't a tourer in any sense :Punk:

powerwise too, i think a 600 will be a big enough step up, i've felt relatively comfortable with the two bigger bikes i've ridden (powerwise) i guess it's only another 150cc but yeah, just sorting it all out in my head, and the 600's sound like the safer/ more practical option

yeah i don't have the cash yet, but if it was a nice enough bike, i'd be keen, actually would be more keen to buy a bike from up north, then i could give it a decent christening into it's new home

I chose the 7 over the 6 because it actually felt smoother, the 6 was in and out of the powerband continually, made it more unpredictable to ride. The 7 just keeps bringing on more and more power, but in a smooth delivery.
Also, eventually, I know I will ride fast, so better to have a bigger engine working less, than a smaller one working harder. On the six, my knees were also touching the fairing.
The ohlins and muzzy pipe sold me too :2thumbsup , the 6 was however, easier to ride in traffic, simply having less horsepower, the 7 actually has a bit much for traffic, but I decided the trade off was worth it :doobey:
