View Full Version : Tribute to my father

Greetings,
Tomorrow marks 15 years since my Father was killed in a road accident.
It still hurts me like it was yesterday as he was/is very close to me.
To be taken away at 41 years old just doesn't seem fair does it.
Anyway, to mark the occasion, I did a bit of photoshopping work and amalgamated a photo of him posing on his brand-new MACH111 in 1970 and me posing on my ZX-10 today, sorta like old and new(er) ballistic Kawasaki's.
Ride on in heaven, Dad,...and keep that front wheel down !!!

Words failed me in reading the tribute to your Dad. He must have been a great man. I still miss mine too though he has been gone now over 27 years. Rest in Peace to all Dads that have passed on to eternity.

Chris, fantastic post mate. I know the feeling about losing a dad. I don't talk about it though, hurts too much. Well done mate.
All the best for you and your family tomorrow

Thanks guys.
The thing I love about this forum is that it doesn't shun you away from speaking about your feelings, ie the bonding family of motorcyclists.

Condolences on the anniversary of your father's passing Chris, its something none of us look forward to facing but it does happen to all eventually, but to loose a loved one at an age that doesn't seem justified & leaves a scar that heals ever so slowly if ever
people say theres a god, but if there was losses like these would happen!

Hi Chris,
As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I was racing at the same time as your Dad. He was a good guy. :)
I know what you mean about missing parents. It's 5 years today since my father passed away on the bowling green (At least he was doing what he loved.)
Take care and keep that Kawasaki rolling.

crap the circumstances with everybody mine and weasel's went just over 5 years ago and was a really bad time for me as i was 12 and was old enough to know what it was but too young to deal with it properly and screwed me up right though school and into life really

Is it wrong for a 35 year old guy to be emotional after reading these posts ??
He was an awesome guy alright.
I was telling TWR today that if he was still alive, he's be riding a 'Busa as that was him.
Thanks again

wow nude, thats a cool tribute to your dad.
My dad (only 65) shocked us all and died 3 weeks ago. (2 days after
christmas) so its still raw & i'll miss him dearly. But 41 is just sooo sad
Seeing your tribute after 15 years for your dad gave me a smile and shows
they are just as much a part of your life 15 years later as if it were
yesterday
Cheers

Hey NM - I had a cool dad. When he was my age he'd had a heart attack and loved his bikes. Mum and I came to a secret agreement to keep my dad off his bike, probably for the best, but he still wanted to ride. 30 years on, I've just got a bike that my dad would have loved and fortunately I don't smoke like my dad and I'm in good shape. Still, I know my dad would be dead chuffed for me and I'd like to have seen my dad on wheels again.
Nothing wrong with a bit of sentiment for those loved and missed.

Cheers Terbang, cherish the moments and relive some motorcycling stories with him. That's exactly what I would be doing right now if I had the chance (choice).

Mate - don't ever question the fact that you feel emotional about anything (except Bambi), especially when it's associated with the loss of a loved one. It's natural.
Good on you for having the strength to post here. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Oh yes, seeing that immaculate one pass over on TradeMe at $8K just proves how valuable they are !!
I would dearly love to restore one but I think it's well beyond my budget.
