I was told "its the turn off that takes you down thru lake rotoweti and rotomar"
yes, past lakes' Rotoiti and Rotoma
the turn off is about 3km before, or past Rotorua airport (depending on the direction you approach).
Should be sign posted as turnoff to Whakatane.

I will probably be there, barring a major!:scooter: will bring my lady seeing she has brought new gear to try out.:spudflip:
To make it more interesting we could take a few detours once we are over the Rotoma's like down Braemar Rd, back through Edgecumbe and out to coast Rd (SH2) into Whakatane & have lunch over the hill at Ohope.
Not trying to hijack this just making it more interesting for you neighbours over the hill.

I could possibly be into this.
There's also some great roads between Paengaroa and Otamarakau....Old Coach Road is surperb riding and is much more fun than the main Highway for heading back to Tauranga.(Just a suggestion)

Tauranga/Te Puke/Mt & Papamoa... there are quite a few KBers, but getting them all on the same ride is quite hard.
You and Flash should get bikes for Sunday, I know of 2 for sale fzr750 (under $2000) and a 1998 gsxr750 that might go for 7 if your lucky...

oh is that all... no one will run you down if your slow (as long as you ride at a pace fast and safe enough for you) the guys will wait at points along the ride, so, you'll catch up.
Do you have any experience?
2much
20th January 2006, 22:06
Exactly as Wayne said, we all started somewhere. As long as you ride your own ride at at pace you're comfortable with there won't be a problem. I have no problem sitting at a pub having a few beers waiting for you to catch up (just don't take tooooo long otherwise I'll be in no condition to ride!).
Let me know when you want to come for a ride and I'll drag the missus along on the 250, she's at the same stage so you can ride together (saves me babysitting:blip: )

I had a blast, as usual. I did manage Old C road, only after I followed Slick and r4q2 and the dude on the big CBR(sorry forgot ya name) as far as braemar rd....again, into Matata where I caught up with a bunch of bikes. They stopped at Aunties and I carried on to Paengaroa(via O.C. rd) to see if I could catch up...but no.
Was good to see you again Darrell, poppin that front wheel up:banana: and great to meet some new faces.
Saul....didnt get to shake ya hand but was impressed with the green machine! I'd love to have that sort of power to just lift the front wheel without effort.
Tony....I'll say it again, don't fuck with my flo bro! Was a great wee battle down the Rotoma's.:niceone: Just you wait 'til I get a new tyre!:bleh:
Was an awesome day out and I hope everyone got home ok!

P.P.S. I got kidnapped by Wee-strom and taken down Old Coach Rd towards Rotorua, so thats why I missed catching up with you to head back towards Hamilton. Still had a good speed run down the #1 Rd that runs parallel to Hwy 2 (no cops) fro Matamata.

I gotta get on to the find-a-bach site and see if theres any for rent at Ohope. The kids would love that spot. Get the wife to drive them down, then I'll join them later on the bike
I'm still buzzing about what a great day it was, even though the little 'fiddy was struggling to keep up. It just stops at 140, so I either need another 20-30hp under my arse, or 20-30 kilos off it :spudbooge I know which I'd rather have

As already mentioned I came back across to Paengaroa via Old coach Rd with a few in tow. Was unfamiliar territory for me so a few stops and back ups over shooting the turnoffs:angry2: but looked a good one to ride, plenty of corners & dips & hollows.
Got home bang on 3.00 after covering 260kms.:doobey:
Glad to see Kravy got home safe & thanks for the effort, that is usually the sort of mileage us Rotovegas riders cover when we do the Coro ride.:chase:
Tauranga & Rotovegas riders will definitely have to get together more often for this sort of event.:yeah:
