Just an idea and cause its a valid reason, Im thinking of a ride to akaroa so we can all get to know roks :spudwave: and get out on the road. Also I will have the cast off and I need a ride :scooter:
Im thinking an evening (Im working) on Friday Jan 27th or Saturday Jan 28th. Let me know your general interest and I can plan from there.

Sadly almost true - until this sunday that is - i'm planning on stealing Ray Clee's bike during the awards. Shhhh. It's a secret.
I figure with the **small** increase in power and handling over the SV i'll TOAST your flubby white butt boy!

Could be temped, maybe.
Akaroa is still quite a long distance away.
Don't like riding in the dark, so what time of the day are you thinking of?
What's the pace? Top speeds of 80km/h?
Sniper
17th January 2006, 12:42
Back by 9pm, so it should still be light.

Hey, I could be keen. I've been meaning to meet some CHCH KBers for a while.
All comes down to whether I'm actually up and running by then though. I'm hoping my bike will be done by early next week at the latest, but it'll depend on how my part hunt goes...

Working, unless it's an evening ride. In which case I'll probably magically get that day off, go out to Ruapuna and be too knackered to go. Usual story then....

Could be keen on Saturday morning. I mentioned to my daughter this morning that we should go for a ride on Friday but Saturday would be fine if she is keen.
Would probably need to be back by 2:00 - 2:30.
Let you know asap, if so I'll be taking it easy.

You're lucky enough to be in a position to afford a bike capable of such speeds and feel comfortable at it. Speeding tickets are obviously not of concern.

Can't do those speeds and already pay too much tax.
Anywhoo, no Im not keen on 80? Why 80?
Can't afford leathers so prefer slower speeds encase of a spill.
Bike hasn't been out of city limits for 4 years, don't want to suddenly stress it too much and have an unaffordable break down.
Back by 9pm, so it should still be light.
Prefer to be back in town by 6pm.

Count me in if that's cool.
Have not met roks or sefer (I don't think). A nice ride in the cool evening weather would be nice. Was going over anyway to recce the Bruce Apartments, anyone know where they are in Akaroa?
Going out via Gebbies pass, or returning that way? Might be the small bike, but the straights out through Hawsel get a bit dull after a while.
Hmm... if I'm feeling crazy might trade in the GSX on the '04 zx10 at Norjos', could use it as a 'run in' trip :2thumbsup (think there's time to sit my full licence test by Saturday?)

Hey dude I ment no offence, no one gives a shit who goes and how fast they ride, you would be a cock to ride faster than you are comfortable going, (some of us learn the hard way:thud: )
and dude tickets SUCK! but its all part of playing the biker game, cricket players have to put up with injury, and bad press, we get tickets..

More minimum speed (excluding hills or head wind) but definitely not above 100.

Word of warning, there are probably half a dozen patches of new seal (going both there and back, mostly on the hill section up and down) to watch out for. There's no sign posts, only orange cones on the curb near the patch so if you're not paying attention...
Just about all of it's on corners :slap:

MMmm, I'm going to do a big err on the side of caution and not go on this ride. Would hate to taken out by stones in corners and want to keep this bike's crash free history.

I wouldn't worry about it. The new seal looked a day or two old on Saturday evening, by next weekend all the crap will be gone, mind you the cones might be too but it's faily easy to spot.
Watch out for A-Holes, had one (yes in their 4x4 Prado) empty the ash tray out the side window at 100km right into my face!?!

Well there's erring on the side of caution and there's being paranoid. Perhaps you shouldn't go for a ride today seeing how it's a glorious, hot, cloud-free day just in case in rains? Stones are a fact of life, it's all part of the biking experience. :ride:
Back on topic, won't be joining in this weekend - off to Woodstock.
