Ok I keep getting browser hijacks that send me to some fucked up site saying "Here, BUT THIS!!!" or some shit. Also getting pop-ups that apear in thier own little bubble rather than another browser window and for some damn reason I cannot open any pull down menus in Windows windows. I click on them and sort of flicker on and off once and vannish leaving the black outline shadow thing behind.

And for some reason I cannot get MSN messenger to open at all.

Have run Spybot and AD-Aware several times, even consecutively and nothing fixes it.

Any ideas on what I should do? Keep in mind I know absolutly dick about computers so I need step by step instructions. And pictures would be a big help.

BTW, Browser hijack 6 times, 1 browser crash, and 3 pop-ups while typing this wich took me about 2 minutes including dealing with the problems. Just to show you how bad it is.

Try Firefox or Opera as your browser.

Waylander

I'm useing firefox.

EDIT, the hijack thing also minimizes my window so that when I go to click the back button I miss it since it's moved, bloody annoying.

Has it added any toolbars anywhere, have you got any names??

Waylander
19th January 2006, 18:28
No new toolbars and no names. Will get screen shots the next couple of times it happens.(assuming that THAT still works)h

Edit > HAHA!! FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!

I can't paist the screen shot in paint because the menu things are fucked up.

Gremlin
19th January 2006, 18:31
what menus... with windows, you can do the same things in different ways.

Cut: ctrl+x
Copy: ctrl+c
Paste: ctrl+v

to run paint, > start > run: type in: mspaint

What's save? or is it something really obvious like CTRL-S?

Sounds like the easiest, cleanest fix is a reinstall.

Grab a Windows disc and boot off it. Choose to Install Windows. It'll find your current install then ask if you want to repair it. Do so. After Windows shitty installer farks around for ages, you'll have a clean OS with all of your apps still installed and your data right where you left it. From there you'll have to update - which will take the best part of 2 days if it's a base WinXP install.

Otherwise you're going to be chasing phantoms for quite a while.

These sorts of problems can be a bastard to sort out over the net, but if you are willing to put in a bit of effort, I can rid you of the infestation.

Let me know.

Back up anything you care about, format the drive and reinstall Windows. Soon as you've reinstalled, upgrade it to SP2, hook it into the interweb and go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and do what (little) can be done.

It's toast. Forget it. Blame Microsoft, it is after all actually their fault.

Have done this many times when people have been talking about reinstallation.

Download Adaware PE from lavasoft and HighJackThis , install and update Adaware, run scan, then run HiJackThis, get the report and either post it or PM it to me and I'll tell you what to remove(be carefull here as you can make the machine not function correctly if you remove items that are needed).

Why don't you get an education and learn how to fix basic shit? Cos you're too busy talking smack about your gay cruiser and how you're gonna save for a Ducati on your McDonalds wages.

Go on fag, move my post or delete it, whatever. Just accept that you're a loser as you do it.

I don't work for McDonalds Winja, Dover is just jealous because I make more money than him and plan on buying a bike that will remain in one peice for more than a couple of weeks.

Did what Teflon suggested lol.

Don't suppose it occured to a highly paid genius like you to run in safe mode eh GL?

You have no idea what I earn Texas Peta and I doubt with your severely constrained skill set you'll ever come close. Unless of course you decided to turn a hobby into a career.

As for my bikes! Ha, I've seen your ratty old shitter. One lady owner, never been dropped! Yeah right.

Didn't McDonalds actually turn you down?

Waylander
19th January 2006, 21:33
And yet, both my bikes still run. Can you say the same for all the bikes you've ever owned?

I've worked at a fast food place before and vowed never to work at another so didn't even apply. And you have no idea what my skill sets are.

The_Dover
19th January 2006, 22:03
So how comes you've gone from working in an outbound callcentre to nailing trusses? Must be a highly educated professional.

Mwahahahaha

Waylander
19th January 2006, 22:18
Trained? Who ever said I had official training? I've been helping my dad do carpentry work since I was 5. I know how to use any type of saw, lathe, drilland any other tool needed to work with wood. Also know how to read building blue prints, wireing schematics, plumbing plans. I know how to lay concrete for foundations. Just because I don't have the pieces of paper from some school doesn't mean I don't know how to do anything.
Why do I work where I do now? Because I know what I'm doing and I enjoy it. Why was I working at digipoll? Because I could speak english and needed a job.

yeah i got caught with one Lodear D late last year, from a F#@%$ stray e-mail, doh me, it actually got into my system when i ran a scan over it

corrupted the anti-virus, bloody MSN & most of the software programs i have. took ages to get rid of, Symantec updated their data 3wks after i got it ,Bastards. i'd isolated it but the damage had been done, took a while to clean up as the comp ran like a piece of shit compared to how fast it is usually

Waylander
19th January 2006, 22:38
Odd though that stuff didn't find anything though. Maybe running spybot and adaware in safemode did it. Or it did find something and fixed it without telling me?
