Hey All,
Lately I've began really enjoying the bike, I take it with me as frequently as I can...nothing beats the feeling cruising down the main roads on a hot day man... Having said that, it's usually the best part of my day, coming from the shore with a 9-5 job.... I used to HATE, HATE, commuting, either in a cage or bus.
Now I am excited each morning getting up with the first thing on my mind as how I am going to dogde the traffic and safely, and quickly getting to work in style..... Commuting has became the "best " part of my day....since.
For some of you the best part may be spending time with your chick/family/job?.... don't get me wrong I love that as well but getting on a bike and zooming through the traffic is so liberating sometimes it feels as if you are invisible on the road.... what do you think?
Aiight just wanted to have a yarn...

Yeah man, I know what you mean.
I live in the country and get to blast into Hamilton everyday.
Best part of my day for sure. I can't wait for 4:30 so I can jump on my bike.

yeah got the same feeling but i am going the other way to the traffic and it's a clear blast the whole way to work, infact i don't have to slow down at any point apart from traffic lights (dam you traffic lights you win this time)

As I come from shoreside would have to agree that does make my day that I can get from work to home or home to work in about 30 minutes even when traffic stops.
Almost nothing better.

Yep. I know what you mean. I find myself wishing for the end of the day, not so that I can go home so much but so I can ride home... If you get what I mean

Yeah. The morning commute is the best part of my day. Strangely, it's better than the ride home. I think that's because:
The air is often cool and crisp in the morning
Having to be super alert on the bike makes me feel energised
The route I take works better one way than the other
I'm not as tired
People seem to travel to work at staggered times, but all leave for home at around the same time. Either that, or it's the 'funnel' thing: people in my area travelling to different places to work, but coming home there's a whole lot of people from different areas funnelling into one destination.I dunno. Whatever it is, it's a great way to travel.

Yeah I love waking up on a fine morning and bringing the blade out of the garage getting ready for a blast into work. I work in Mt Wellington and live in Pokeno so its a fair ol ride. Quite often head through Papakura to Clevedon through to Maraetai, Whitford then out from Botany Downs. Beats getting a flat spot on the motorway and having to deal with swarms of cages for sure!.:2thumbsup

I dont get to ride in every day because I share the cage ride with my missus', but it sure makes my day when I do (like today).
Soon she will be quitting her job to raise our mini-me which is due in August. Then i get to commute on the bike every day!

Almost all my riding is commuting. Still makes me feel good every time.

I got my oldest little girl an electric car to drive untill she's 5. I have a little Honda 1 cyl 50cc that she will be riding as soon as she's 5, (1 year 4 months to go).
Commuting from Hibiscus coast to Upper Queen Street Auckland everyday, turned a 2 hour car "Horror" into the most enjoyable 45minute ride of my life (till the engine blew). Now I just look forward to riding to/from work, even though I spend more time warming the bike than riding it, as I live 8 minutes walk to work.

I with you DJ. The morning ride is always the best.
I ride against the traffic, but theres enough for a bit of dodgy lane changing, undertaking and queue hopping. Sometimes I just hope the lights turn red along the Petone Espl just so I can filter past all the saps in their cages :).

Best part of the day - when the head hits the pillow.
I'd hate to commute to work on a bike,85km of SH1 on a 2 stroke dirt bike is not my idea of fun.

Wos wrong wiv that ? Petal thinks it's fine, bit of a boring road , maybe, depending on which bit of SH1, but less boring than in a cage.

Me feels the same as you about commutting DJ, despise it in a cage but love it on two wheels! Used to get up in the morning and battle getting into the car and driving over an hour to work on our beloved Ak motorway system, but now it's a joy cos it only takes me 12 mins to ride over the hill to Albany.
Best part of the working day for me has to be leaving and taking the long way home if it's a fine afternoon. SH28 thru Coatsville/Riverhead is sublime during good weather and minimal traffic!!:not:
