View Full Version : Puke testing complete success

Well I did the controlled testing at Pukekohe on Friday. Man it was awesome. In my first few laps on the track I was down to 1:21, by the end of the day I was going well faster, but didn't have anyone timing me. I loved it, and I was quicker than about half of the bikes on the track, Despite being the second smallest bike there (there was an RS125 racer). I'll post a short video once its cleared on google video
Here's a couple of pics of my what my crappy rear tyre looked like at the end of the third session, it didn't like me scraping my footpeg onto the front straight at 150k/hr

Now I need info on how to get into this streetstock racing class. I joined up at the AMCC, but from all I could gather, they didn't race a separate streetstock class. And now that I'm trying to sign up for a race licence, they don't have streetstock listed as one of the options under the Road Race Class they only have:
125cc
250GP
Formula 3
Sidecars
Sports Production
Prod. Superbike
So what do I do to get into this streetstock racing. It's not even in the programme for the AMCC, they have all sorts of races, but not the Streetstock 250 4strokes/150 2 strokes. Help... I must race.

You were doing really well out there. Had to work pretty hard to get past.

I noticed on the race licence form that it didn't cover streetstock. I assume it's because streetstock isn't a class they race nationally and only a few clubs have such a class. I think it's ok to ignore ticking any of those boxes (correct me if I'm wrong).
Your best bet is to join the VMCC and race down here. First event is in Taupo but I think most races will be held at Manfeild. You'll easily kick the arses of the 150s out at Manfeild. Not sure about Taupo but the original track supposedly gave the 150s the advantage (haven't had the chance to ride there myself).
I saw a while ago you read the VMCC guide to streetstock, so you would know about drilling and zip-tying the sump plug and replacing the coolant with either a non-glycol coolant or water.
And here's a tip: Get good tyres or you'll end up sitting the rest of the season out.

Was that the one that had to be pushed back to the pits :doctor: Yeah that was a pretty quick little track hound.
Also I'm pretty sure that I would have been easily under 1:20 on my last session, cause I really only learnt the track properly by that time. Still I've got to get to a race day before I get too cocky.

Nope no pushing this time, was the first time I've been to Pukekohe and not got a ride back on the towtruck at least once.

1.20 is pretty quick for you first time at the track, or around a track at all. I managed 1.29 after two sessions on the ZXR250, but i had not balls then.

Well I'd hope that he'd whip my arse on a 400. Especially since I've only ever been on a track once, and I'm on a 250.

Your last round TS you were on the 1.03 again, all good. Looking damn smooth throught the s onto the front straight, I could tell it was you riding just from the smoothness the lean angle etc, before I could really make you out.
