Well as many of you may know I am currently without a bike. As a consequence I am slowly but surely going crazy.

In order to slow the dementia I took a few candidates out for a test. I can highly recommend this process.

When I was looking for a bike last time, the first and only bike I tried out was the blackbird. I sat on it and within 2 feet knew I was going to buy it, didn't ride anything else.

I was looking for an experience something like that this time.

So anyway, frst off I rode an 03, 900 Hornet.
In typical Honda fashion it was a breeze to ride and did everything fairly well. Being used to the linked brakes on the Blackbird I found the nose dive on even medium braking very disconcerting. This model has no adjustment, so no thanks.

Next I took out an 03 SV1000S.
I though it was a pretty comtetent bike. Did everything well, had a vibe down low as was to be expected, but not too bad. It lacked a bit of power and didn't really turn me on. I found myself yawning at about 10.00 am.

Next onto the 05 Triumph Speed Triple.
Farken Wahoo. Awesome machine. Once again within 2 feet I knew I was going to love it. It's a bike that you can just jump on it and ride it. No getting used to it, no learning the Idiosyncrasies’ you are right at home and having a blast.

Next onto an 04 Busa.
Ok got to say. An excellent machine. After the Blackbird you can feel the few years refinement all round. The power, the weight advantage, the handling and the braking are all better that the bird. a very well put together package, that was easy to ride. Sure it pulled like a freight train and did everything very well and I fealt right at home on it - but, maybe cause I wasn't pusing it, it was all too easy.

Whilst I know that there is no comparison for the speed and utility of the Busa, the speed triple is the machine that lit my fire.

Anyway, got a bit of sanity back now so I am happy for a short while.

Mate get the Speed Triple and come pull some mingn wheelies with us :stoogie:
Plus not too mention get some nice pipes on it and the triples sound second to none, although looking at the pillon seat on the triple, hmmmmm.
Mind you, you could have a fair amount of fun on the busa.

Sounds like you fancy the triple though and they are a very cool bike and i dont think you'd be dissapointed in any way with it.

Hope all is well anyway mate, stop in sometime, and hope you get a ride soon mate i know the craziness all to well

Yeah I think the triple wins - certainly not the "best" bike, I think that title belongs to the Busa, but it really captures the imagination or spirit or some bloody thing.

The pillion seat is tiny, but hey I don't see that as a problem. I definitely would get it but??? not happy with the price at this point.
Second hand 5/05 and they want $18,500.00. That is too much for second hand.

Got another machine that I quite like the look of too so i dare say I shall know more Monday evening.

Yeah but, the Busa is more of the same.

I know I need my head read, the Busa really is the ideal bike for what I do, but I would like to try a different style of machine, even though I know it lacks in many of the areas that I appreciate and I am probably going to curse that fact many times.

Hey I said I was going crazy!

But I can still sell it and get a Busa later.

How long before you are back on the horse Pete?

Heard nothing but good things about the speed triple. Go try a Sprint ST when you get the chance.

Need to be on an 04/05 Hornet if you want more suspension adjustments.

When are you trying the Buell XB12X? :drinknsin

Don't fancy the Sprint ST.
I figure may as well save some money and get some real power by buying either a Blackbird or for similar money and heaps of power a busa.

Same thing with the Buell. Always really fancied the Buell, but there would appear to be (on paper) a lack of power there also.

I knew you'd love the Triple. Keep looking around something will come up.
Talk to Patrick, patrick@amps.co.nz, they might be looking to change the demonstrator. It's black with twin sexy Microns.
