So I have decided to join this forum and post this post. Have now been riding for about two weeks, slowly getting better. Ride a Suzuki GSXR250 (badly). Want to learn to ride it safely and well quickly, will keep trying.

Have had varying experience with other motorists. First one when I dropped the bike and this nice guy stopped and helped me pick it up (thanks very much ! - he remarked that he was into bikes as well, so knew the deal).

The experience tonight not so good... Stalled at the Khyber pass rd. / Broadway intersection on a green arrow (oops) and the guy behind was beeping me. I got the bike started again just as the lights turned orange and I went. The beeping guy behind me got stuck at the lights... I have a L-plate prominently displayed on the back of the bike, so he shouldn't have been beeping anyway, so... instant karma !

Anyway, I'm really enjoying riding the bike, have always wanted to do it and finally have so YAY !

Welcome to K.B Siggy. Some of the locals will probably be able to put you onto some good rider training programs.

hey, welcome to KB.... have you thought about coming on our newbie ride on the 29th?? should be good....
dont worry about the stalling thing... between you and me, i stalled once... got the beeps from behind while i was trying to find 1st.. then the bugger inner took me in the lane... i was a bit miffed at that... good thing was i got to go casually past him when he got stuck in traffic and i split up the lane to the front to catch up with my mate.... i liked that karma!!....

Welcome...I know the deal, my first test ride to buy private was at Greenlane Foodtown, dusk, rushour and complete beginner...bunnyhopped, stalled (beeped @, held lights etc) and got lost...50min test ride, seller was LITTLE bit concerned. Ended up buying it and LOVE it....
Just ride as often as u can.......

Hey, yeah thanks a lot for the welcome !

I have thought about the newbie ride, and am not sure I'm up to cornering at 70 yet... I'll keep thinking about it... Or is it sorta straight ? I'm not too familiar with the Clevedon-Kawakawa-Kaiaua or Botany Downs area. (absolutely no idea :)

Its an auckland thing man - drivers here are assholes.
Road rage seems to be acceptable here for some unknown reason.
As for the riding skill thing - dont worry, it actually comes naturally after a while.

Its a pritty simple run, did it the other day to get familiar with it. Peeps running it wont be doing 70 on corners if it isnt safe to do calmly. Alot of straightish sweeping stuff.

newbie ride for newbie riders and take the corners at whatever speed you feel comfortable, after my first accident i kept holding my foot out and going really slow round tight corners but if you keep doing things over and over until it is right then it comes naturally (like riding a bike)

Welcome,
I am really new at riding to, but i think it easier to corner at faster speed, had my first highway outing about a week ago, much prefer it to town riding, though i must admitt i havn't done any twisties yet.
Wish i could do the ride with you all, but there will be other times.
Ride safe. :)

Yeah, so if its a lot of straightish sweeping bends then I can prob do it easy I guess. Will have to register ! Thanks all, great idea !
