Hi everyone,
Some of us have been chatting in the Biker Angels Forum and a suggestion has come forward about a possible KB Bed-4-a-nite/accomodation guide...
Thinking along the lines of a private KB register where those who are willing put their contact details... It could be a potentially great way to travel around this fine country of ours meeting like-minded people. Apologies if this has come up in discussion before but I'm a relative newbie and was just wondering, ya know?
Any thoughts?

Great that you guys all love it, now go look here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=4385)
That is mainly set up as a help list, but anyone offering accomodation can also add themselves to the list....

Yeah I was aware of that one but that is more general and this one would be specific.

A very good idea. We could have a separate area that lists the people and places and then a chat area separate to it. You do not want to wade through a hundred chats to find the next place to stay. See if you can be or get a moderator to manage the area and lock the first list and put it in some sort of order, say cities?.
Great idea.

Do you want me to change the thread slightly, and add in all you lot who want to offer accomodation? Most of the people on the help list also offer accomodation, some solely so. The structure is already there and it would be easy to add to it. Although it would be nicer if we had some sort of annotated frappr type site that could be used to see it graphically??
Anyone got any ideas?

Maybe two threads...a North Island and South Island thread.
Could cut in into smaller bits but then that's more time needed to be spent maintaining the threads...:corn:

I guess all we are really suggesting is that it be a separate thing to the General Help thread... I leave it in yr capable hands... :woohoo:

I understand where you are coming from, but seeing as a large number of people on that thread offer accomodation, there is a double up. If you are going touring, you probably need both things anyway, even if you are going for a short ride, it is nice to have general help if you need it, as well as places to stay etc.
BMWOR used to do something similar to what you are suggesting and a list came out yearly - coffee and chat or tools available etc etc. This is what I was aiming at in the help thread. We even have a limited list for senior members only, for those people who dont want their details available to any tom, dick or harriet who might come in and post once and then leave.
There is a structure there that could readily be used. Why make another list? If you want to make another list and make it better, I´d be quite happy to add my lists to yours, but I dont see the rationale for two separate lists

With the help thread, there aren´t enough people in the Sth Is to make it worthwhile to make a separate list. Anyway, people cross the strait easily enough....

Whatever you peeps decide to do with said list/lists I think it would be a good idea to have it structured in a way that someone who needs accomodation, etc could *easily* navigate through this site to find the information, it may well be easiest to have a separate list for this. Maybe a link to the info can be put on the homepage somewhere? I see that the current info thread is situated in General Biker Ravings, shouldn't it be in Meetings and Events? Maybe Spank needs to get involved?
Good idea Floss, keep 'em coming! :first:

Yeah I´m in Cadiz waiting for Carnival - big 2 week festival, should be awesome!!!
Agreed re the organisation of the current help thread, should be better, but how? I like the idea of a frappr-like thing with a pic and flags as to who is where, but it´d be nice to also have a list that you could print out and stuff under your seat or something....

Basically, I´m happy to co-ordinate something, but lets make a decision as to what to do first. I've said what I think, but if you want to organise something better, please do so and I'll help out.

It will be simple to highlight the people offering accommodation in the general/senior members lists through judicious use of colour, font or type style. Would this suffice for those wanting a seperate list?

I have checked out that list and BTW PT, unless you had supplied the link I wouldn't have had a clue where to find it! And I'm not blonde either! Anyways I was surprised at how few offers of accomodation there were considering the number of KB members.
So how does one get themselves onto 'the list'?:sherlock: :sunny:

To get on "The List", pm me.
As for being able to find it, perhaps SpankMe could put it somewhere more prominent, or re-title the thread??
