Right, Weasel and my New Rider's Day Out (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=22821) will happening the next day. This ride is to check the route for any possible new problems, and for trainers to have a look at the route, if they so wish. Therefore, this (Saturday) ride is not for the newbies, but will not be fast paced either.

It will be a full run of the actual route, including the scheduled stops and a couple of additonal stops for dangerous corners we think should be noted. If you have offered to lead a group and are not 100% sure of the route, then this is for you!!!!

Meeting place is the same as the learner ride - Botany BP (Directions (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=471663&postcount=43)), 10 AM, for a 10:30 AM leave.

Any riders welcome (except absolute newbies), this is not restricted to those helping on the ride.

We will be going through Whitford, Maraetai, Clevedon, Kawakawa Bay, Kaiaua, Mangatawhiri, Hunua Ranges, Clevedon, Twilight Rd, Brookby, Alfriston, Dannemora, Chapel Rd back to Botany BP. All up, about 180-190km.

Full Map is currently under construction. (more for the Learner Ride). Meeting Place map attached.

Register your interest (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=708&day=2006-1-28&)

last lime i went through there the onlt dodgy corners are the really tight stuff with the steep corner that tightens like a daddy's girl.... And one of the 35km corners into kawakawa...

But you wanna come play??

i think you know the ones i mean, the time we went to kaiaua when i was on the 250 and you were on the cbr, and there was one fucker that tightened up and had really bad rippling on the proper line that forced you wide or made it really uncomfortable.

The other one im thinking (that i can remember) is heading back to auckland on that route (not sure where) but i think its somewhere around clevedon, the road sweeps from left switching to right uphill and has a passing lane, unless you have your shit sorted if you try to pass on that corner its a death trap - but im sure the newbies wont be doing any of that.

wipe your tears, I want to let you wheelie mine?? I don't think so :weird: ... in summary, the bike is very very different, and not for me, too refined, too smooth.

I know the corners you guys are talking about, they are on my list, but I dunno what gareth is on about for the passing lane corner... will need to clarify that.

The nasty uphill left is the third in a set of tightish lefts, and the nastiest of the 3. There is also a right hander heading towards clevedon that doesn't look bad, except it has two patches in it, which stuffs up your entry, hit it wrong, and the front gets wrenched in your hands.

I will be pointing all these corners out tomorrow, and trying to list them on sunday for group leaders.

edit: gareth, pm sent, thats what user notes are for ya know

I would never wheelie without permission.......:innocent:

Oh and just to clarify are we actually going to be riding the course tomorrow or just puttering around making notes????

Just need to know. I'll see who pitches up tomorrow. Oh and I might be available on sunday if you need another instructor or something.... That is if you think i'm qualified...:drinknsin :drinknsin

Yeah that corner is a real bitch. Just teach teh learners not to brake mid corner or else if they are following too close there will be a pile up as a bike hits the barrier (IF they go downhill.) Uphill ain't sooo bad on that corner. Well... it is dreadfull full stop. Shitty surface and angles.

What a piss poor effort on the ride organisers part... the bugger didn't even turn up, so the whole group of 7 riders had to descend on his house... :eek5:

oh wait...

Once that lazy excuse for a biker got going, and we got out into the country, the ride was good, with good weather and some roads having been resealed in the last week. The tight right-left into kawakawa has been resealed which is awesome now. Some triathlon looking thing was taking in kawakawa, but apparently only today, not tomorrow.

Tristan dropped off at clevedon, and aff-man and dveus carried on at Kaiaua.

Bit of fun down some straights, and a comfortable pace set coming back into Auckland. Not a fast pace, but fun nonetheless.

One very minor incident involving a biker trying his bike out on dirt hills, but we'll let him elaborate on that. Otherwise, a good day out I thought.

Yes, good to ride with you guys again... and on bigger bikes this time! Dropped back a bit on Monument and had some fun... the SV's great on smooth roads! Suspect I'm finding issues on bumpy corners at speed already - must talk to Zapf about this

Looking forward to tomorrow... you guys are doing a terrific job!!
May be a long hot day though if we do every little bit at < 70km/h

Well it was good while it lasted, saw a popo outside bitchlands and that was it.

My shock is now so fucked it just bottomed out on a bump and stretched my chain so much it changes gear differently (I JUST ADJUSTED THE FUCKING THING 2 HOURS AGO AND IT WAS PERFECT).

The bike can only really get over or do much if it is perfectly flat, otherwise im fhuooked. Speaking of which, I hot glued on some velcro and attatched my knee sliders.. they work like a treat :D

That was a bit of a laugh having to ride to your house to get you, Gremlin. :) Lucky affman knew the way.

It was good fun trying to keep up with affman, dveus and Rayza. The rest of the ride was good too.
Bloody hot though!:sweatdrop :sweatdrop :sweatdrop :sweatdrop :sweatdrop
