Last night I heard this small capacity 4-stroke absolutely red-line each gear. Knowing the speed of traffic is 55km/hr, this dude must have been doing double that because it caught up with them very quickly.

So, who in Hillmorton area of Chch was expecting their mate on a white, red and blue motorcycle with rego 21xxx at around 5:50pm last night?
Were too far ahead to know for sure, but they turned off down Warren Cres or Cardinal Pl. They weren't wearing proper bike gear either.

Speeding like that is unacceptable, especially considering there are so many young children living in the area.

Ride safe.

Sounds like it could be a CBR250. Also it should be noted that they might sound like they are redlining to an FXR owner when they are only at half of maximum. Just cause it sounds like its revving high doesn't mean its going fast. This is a common misconception. For instance in top gear a cbr250 doing 110 k/hr is sitting at 10,000rpm. Now in third gear at say 60k/hr its up over 10,000rpm. I need more evidence.

P.S. Its not me, cause I'm in Auckland, I'm just defending screaming bikers.

Had the same situation with a young guy who used to ride past my place. Would hear him come around the corner and scream through 3 gears past my place. Sounded like 100km plus, but watching him, he was only doing about 45 - 50. On a 250/4 with an aftermarket pipe.

Yeah quite common to sound like it is going 10 gazillion miles an hour on an inline 4 250 as you need the revs to get anywhere. When you hear a highpitched 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' sound that is probably more like 17-18000rpm (the F1 sound ;) ). That means it is going for it. I doubt that it was though, I get people about 200m ahead stop crossing the road when I am changing through 6 gears just because of the sound.
