I see the 2006 HOG Rally is being held in Dunedin next month. Any KB'ers going to be there?

No doubt Mrs V and I will be hovering around any displays, making nasty drool stains on the shiny chrome. We could "ride along" on the Viragos, hoping not to get lynched!:ride:

If anyone is looking for accommodation, friends of ours have recently opened a new B&B place, and apparently have a few more rooms left (apparently they have already have some HOG bookings). They are situated at the start of the Otago Peninsula - great riding roads, with stunning scenery! Anyway, brochure attached.

Hmm, got the week-end off, got a H-D, got an entry form, now all I need is C.B. to get my shit together for me and sign me up as a HOG member!!:woohoo:
(and get a place to stay in Dunners!! )

yeah I'd like to but...
1. Cant afford the entry
2. Cant be bothered joining HOG at the present time
3. Cant afford the petrol

Now that I own a HD, it seems odd that I wont be going.... especially as I have been to 5 already! :apumpin:

Oh yeah and Virago? I've been to 2 of them on my ole Virago too
Didn't ACTUALLY ride the bike into the rally, but did ride to Akaroa and Wgtn for the rallies...great trips they were too!! Even passed a few HDs on the way :dodge:

I've been to 9 HOG rallies, they are great fun, sure there are always a few posers but its what ya make it. And the bikes on display are things of beauty. Some people come from overseas for these rallies, they are just massive parties...
YEE HA!:Punk:   :doobey:  :woohoo: :ride:  :niceone:

If anyone is going that could say gidday to Bruce Stuart (silver 100year Anni model 1550). Tell him MSTRS says he should get a gixxer.

Boy, I bet that will be a doddle to spot - amongst all the other Anniversary H-Ds that will be there!!:blah:

I'll give it a shot though - as long as he doesn't give me a black-eye for the gixxer suggestion.:dodge:

Nah. It's all good. Just a sorta running gag between us. His bike has a shitload of bolt-on goodies too....chrome flames everywhere and chromed aftermarket mags. Rear pegs have the footpad rest too.

I don't think that really narrows it down. that much.......
Drove back from Dunedin today, was wondering why there were so many bikes heading the other way and 95% of them were Harleys, shit weather today though......;)

Yeah, I saw lots of wet Harleys round town today. One I took particuler note of was a silver Road King (I think that's what it's called) with a silver single wheel trailer. Looked and sounded real good - even if it and the rider was dripping wet. It was at the corner of Madras and Chester St at around 5pm. Had a personlised plate - I think it was DSIRE or something like that. Anyone we know?

Feel sorry for all you guys heading to the rally, I think most of the South Island is having crap weather at the moment.

Weather is not too bad a.t.m, just been out for a bit of a hunt with No.1 son and apart from a stiff breeze it's o.k. and looking:2thumbsup for tomorrow and Saturday.
Sunday? hmm, may be a bit damp - but then it's only 50km from home:bleh:

Went over to Dunedin for the day and I got a headache from all the chrome.
McIvor & Veitch was humming of course and the surrounding streets were full of HDs going somewhere important and making lots of noise.

There was a HUGE rainstorm around Milton - south of Dunedin - visibility was down to about 20m from the rain alone so I pity anyone caught in it but it was very localised.
The weather in Dunners seemed OK, if it rains it won't be too bad methinks.

She'll be a big night on site tonight alright.

Didn't see you around town, mind you your bike would be completely un-noticable amid the sea of bling....

Mrs V and I got a good pozzy on Three Mile Hill to watch the Thunder Run. What a sight - and the sound!!! Videoed it, but it didn't come out too good. Saw Scumdog (with skull mask) near the head of the procession (they must have let the "seniors" go first:banana: ).

Lots of kids at the Lookout, and after the procession they all wanted to have a sit on the "Yamaharley" for photos:blink: .

Then down to the Octagon for the Bling Show, where Mrs V and I left nasty drool stains on several bikes. Briefly caught up with Scumdog and CB amid the sea of leather.

After a nice lunch, Mrs V and I headed south for a ride, but saw the deep blue cloud ahead and chickened out. It sounds like we made the right decision....

I was in the car V.

Back from above event, had a ball, got the pip when they ran out of bourbon on the Friday night (f.g.s. it's a biker event, natural food for bikers is bourbon, how hard is it to figure THAT out???)
Got a teensy bit damp about 15 minutes from home but weather was Auckland style the rest of the weekend (Warm and muggy).

Decided new bike will be a Superglide 'T' Sport.:niceone:

Caught up with Mrs and Mr Virago and HondaV2 but that's the only KBers I can remember meeting.

HondaV2 (Toddy) dropped in on his way home this arvo, very much the worse for wear and admitted waking up in the Octagon at 5am after getting around just about every bar in Dunedin.
C.B. gave him a coffee and we sent him on his way looking a bit healthier..

Some of these old guys never learn eh?

It was a long ride home, great Rally, the band on friday night was unreal , about 15 on stage at one time, Pity the beer suppliers were a bit slack, dont think they will be grog suppliers at next rally. They had a harley jacket up for grabs on Sat at 5pm so every one turned up to win it. I said to my mate I have 4 jackets allready but another will do, his wife Chris says you will probably win it. I didnt but she did. Thunder ride was great, my first, ( was 2 hungover at Akaroa ) there was little kids to old grannys out to see it. Harleys as far as you could see on motorway. As for waking up in the Octagon at 5am, If you want to find out more you will have to buy my book when I have finished it. Great to catch up with old faces, especially the Wellytown guys.
