(Actually I appear to be in first this year.)
This is the one that caters to those of us who enjoy sleeping in and still have the ability (or at least think we have) to do the late run to Paeroa via the Clevedon/Miranda loop to turn up sometime shortly after the racing begins.
As per previous years, we don't want to miss too much, so we won't be sticking around. (SpankMe can tell you all about his birdstrike incident (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=9102)).
I can collect people at Caltex/BK Mt Wellington for a 9:15 depart, but the official meet up will be the usual place:
What: The 2006 Pearoa battle of the streets spectators late run, that's what!
Where: Shell Clevedon.
When: Meet up from 9:40 or so for a 10:00am departure.
How: Looping via Kaiaua/Miranda and finishing at Paeroa.
Special Instructions: Meet new KB'ers and organise your own way home.
Special Instructions for Nhuanh: Don't be a plonker this year.
The 'normal' meeting place & place to dump gear actually at the races is on the "grassy knoll" overlooking the hairpin.
There is normally another ride that leaves around 8:30 or so for those who prefer a more direct route and/or sedate pace. I'm sure the ride details will be posted soon (hint, hint).

Nhuan's check list.
1: Ensure it is a Daewoo free route taken
2: Spare Key ductaped to fore-head (we can assist it the fitting)
3: Rear cowl ductaped on, NOT TO BE REMOVED.
I think that will cover it.:blip:

The Tauranga crew (hopefully Rotovegas too) might stop in at Kopu for gas on the way through... if your heading through Ngatea we wont see ya, if your not we might get lucky.
Drunken Monkey
26th January 2006, 18:28
Don't need to wait around for us, we go via Ngatea. Sometimes the tail enders do seem to get lost and end up in Kopu, but they're big enough and ugly enough to look after themselves...

Hi Drunken Monkey,
I have been asked take over the OTHER ride to Paeroa on Sunday which ZXER was organising. I was wondering if I can bring our group (currently leaving from BP in Manukau @ 9:30) and just come and meet up with you guys and we all ride together (you lead the way). It would be pretty silly having two rides 10min apart :eyepoke:
We should all be there before 10, if not could you hang around for a little while till we get there?
Cheers, saffa

Hi Drunken Monkey,
(snip)
Cheers, saffa
Yeah, no probs. Don't know about me leading the way though, I can never remember which right turn to take to Ngatea...
For those who don't know the route:
Leave Clevedon Shell, going North
Right at the round-a-bout
Follow the road...
Keep following...
Keep following...
Stop for a head count
Turn inland at the shops
Keep following...
Keep following...
Stop at Miranda for a head count
Stop at the main highway Mobil for another head count
Turn left, follow the highway
Turn right to Ngatea (I think it's the 4th or 5th right) = when we figure this one out, can you please turn then STOP and make sure the person behind you has seen you before proceeding.
Go down the straight bit, splatter a few birds
Left at Ngatea (maybe another head count, but if you're lost by this point, you're long gone)
Paeroa = fin

Hi there the right turnoff is just past the steel girder bridge which is at the miranda turnoff or turn on which ever way you want to look at it the road that you turn right onto is called west canal road if you miss it no probs cos east canal road is just over the canal and runs paralel with west canal road at the end of ether of these roads you turn left and this brings you into ngatia
Cheers

Righto you lot....
I want you all to take care and ride safe out there on the roads tomorrow, on the way there and on the way back to Paeroa.
I shall be thinking of you all tomorrow as I will be at home resting all my aches and pains after my wee crash on last Thursday arvo.
I would have loved to have been heading down with you all.... to watch the road races.
To all the KB racers.... all the very best of luck in your races.
I shall get to watch it all on tv when it is shown on TV1 sports.

Only saw one rozzer the whole day, although we went the back way through Kaiaua.
Ixion
19th February 2006, 20:56
So did I. I waited at Kaiaua for ages for you. Then a bunch of bikes came through about 10:30 that I thought must be the beginning of the KBers so I tagged behind. But I don't think it was, was a bunch of HDs and crusiers and some sprotsbikes. All good though cos they set a nice pace (Harleys don't seem too good at acceleration, but) and I tucked m'self into the middle behind a Rocket 3 and had a brisk ride. Couple in front to keep any rozzers that we approach busy, and couple behind to occupy the rozzer who sees us go past and sets off in pursuit. First in line or last in line , gets the fine, I'm told.
