Well as a new rider I have learnt a valuable lesson today, People are F#@kin ignorant :tugger:s ! Here i am :ride: off to work, doing about 52 in a 50 so not slow, and low and behold coming up on my left is a car, (might i add this is a single lane road with parking down the left) I'm in awe thinking WTF? pulling into a park? no surly not. speed up and get away from this weirdo if a car pulls out shes going to swerve and knock you off! So i get back in front of her and she does it again this time she is right beside me once again I am thinking WTF?! So i toot the horn and get in front of her again, But no! This stupid B*#ch does it again, she doesn't want to pass me, i slow down to let her go, sitting on the horn, but no! WTF?! I could have reached out and knocked on the window, I am left thinking is this women deaf as well as blind?! So I speed up, and move to the left hand side of the road. I got off lightly as i am sure this women was both blind and deaf, or playing a very dangerous game.:weird:

I've had same thing happen usually at a crossing.
Now I make sure I'm park in middle of lane to esure there is no room to overtake.
Some people are very blind, dumb, stupid, ....etc even when we let them pass they still want to hit us. Must call this "I own the road & am the leader so must pass even one then be annoying."

Own the road.

Keep a dominant position on the road and hopefully this will happen to you less..... It is not always correct to be in the right wheeltrack - move to the middle, or anywhere to discourage twats like that.

That is a very valuable lesson to learn without having the shit shaken out of you, good luck and keep riding....

I seldom stay in right wheel track , I prefer to weave slightly from just left of middle to right wheel track (maybe even a bit right of that on a wide lane). When I say weave I mean to move between the positions over maybe 100 yards, - nothing noticeable, but it discourages idiots from doing this sort of stupidity.

I like to get these ignorant twats and pull over gently, right in front of them and put the rear brake on, just enough to slow down a little... eyeball them over my shoulder etc...

Let 'em know you're there and YOU are in charge.

If they're stoned - just stay away and get the cops onto it. Dobbing them in ain't a bad thing. It's putting them on notice and keeping you (and us) safer.

As an aside, this may be a cultural thing? When I was in Jakarta, I noticed that traffic almost totally ignored lane markings - rule seemed to be , if you could squeeze into a gap, do so. This was cages squeezing other cages, even trucks, not just bikes. So you ended up with sometimes 4 vehicles fitted into two lanes, and a bike on the edge as well. Cops seemed happy with it.

Everyone's always hitting the horn to let everyone around them know where they are. Lines and marking seem to be incidental to the situation.

it's called Space-Efficiency.
Using the road capacity to the maximum.

A trip with bike is 10 times faster than in cars there. I wish it is the same here.
Never got a danger of being knocked off either, as the cars are not moving.

But what does 'cultural' have to do with it? One is in Te Puke and the others are at least 7000km away.
And I haven't started on that fookin mullet in work van that does the same thing to me in Northwestern Mway yesterday.

Who knows what people think. I know even before i rode i used to give bikes more than enough room, guess i was scared of hurting someone. Oh well not all people think logical....
