View Full Version : The Inaugural Gixxer Club Ride

2much
28th January 2006, 22:14
Seems to be enough interest so we'll make it official......

Ok, obviously alot of us think this is a great idea, so lets see who's willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Here's what I propose:

The first Gixxer club ride. February 6th (that's Waitangi day) We'll do the coro loop. JAFA's, oop's, I mean Aucklanders,:innocent: will meet at Autobahn at 1000 then will meet up with non-JAFA's at the Kopu pub at 1100.

This ride will be GSX-R's only (including 'Busa's), the only exception being WT if he wishes to come. It was his idea after all, and we all know where his loyalties lie anyway. (Anyone got a GSXR they can lend 'im?):devil2:

We'll do this one as a trial and if it works out, then there'll be more to come.

The destination is flexible, I'm aware that some would rather it was up north, so we'll run a poll and majority wins.

So it's time to stand up or shut up...... who's in?

**UPDATE**

Here's the plan (tks Qkchk):

When: Monday 6th Feb
Time: Meet at Shell Westgate @ 9.30am leave at 10am.

What we intend to do:
Ride to Paparoa where we will meet up with the Northern crew (4 Gixxers at this stage) @ 11.15. Do some hell riding in the Dargaville/Whangarei/Kaikohe area. If you think the Coromandel Loop is awesome, come up North and be re-educated! Come on you flacid lot, we want to get as many Gixxers as we can!!! Guaranteed to lose those chicken strips!! A ride not to be missed.

ok so the poll closes th day after the ride.... guess it's a fore gone conclusion then... asides the tin canz towing caravanz, boats and shite like that!!!! although that'll keep *555 busy :psst: while making it harder for th fuzz to respond, sounds like a good ride.

For anyone intersted Jason McEwen's k4 GSXR810 with Ohlins rear, and steering damper, and traxxion fork kit is up for sale as a road bike. It is the one he raced at Wanganui street races. $14,000.

Trying to make a quick $500 SM? Here you go. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=23829)

Well someone had to grab the bull by the nuts and do something rather than just talk about what a great idea it was..... This is what I came up with.

But I'm open to suggestions, if you've got a better idea speak up........

Oh, and tin cans are just mobile chicanes;)

Sounds like a goer....

I'd be up for a coro loop cause the fuzz will be all over the north.
Mobile tin cans will be a problem but it just makes life more interesting...
Hopefully will have the new sprockets and brake pads on so will have to try them out :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: :yeah:

It's ok Deano, there's no need to feel left out. Get in touch with boomer, he's organising a Honda Owners Club Ride. Can't remember the date/time but you're all meeting at the bottom of Queen st, then it's a 'cafe crawl' up though ponsonby.

No probs, couldn't let the thread die..........

As for the meeting point, Westgate is a large shopping complex at the end of the North Western Motorway (Head towards SH16). Just turn left at the end of the motorway and once you see McDonalds, Shell Westgate is right next door.

A Glee Club is a chorus, historically of men but also of just women or mixed voices, which specializes in singing short songs. Glee clubs originated in England, but are no longer common in Britain; modern glee clubs are primarily found in North American colleges and universities. Contrary to popular belief, a glee club is not necessarily a club full of gleeful people or a chorus that sings gleeful songs.

If I'm not mistaken this is a public forum and I pointed out that the Coro Loop can be a problem to experienced riders as well as so called novices alike. Hope you enjoy your pizzas.

arse... Tried to get my new sprockets on and ran into 2 problems ..
1) I already am running a 15 and a 46 ??

Yeh, that's why I said you gotta go up in the rear, we've had no luck getting a 14 front.....though I think they run a 43-44 rear stock, don't they?
Now don't you buggars go wearing all those awesome northland roads out before I can get up there too...it's aboot time I got up there again.....

Yip will be going in some time this week to see if i can make an exchange...

46 is the standard rear and 16 is the standard front. So i thought going down one at the front would be good but i'll see what they have available and see if they will exchange :niceone:

Was great to be a part of the ride, would've loved to have ridden thru the forrest/Opo/Kaikohe again but time sorta overcame us...i know we need to reduce our frequency of stops! :ride:

Just loved the back roads that the northerners showed us from Paparoa all the way thru to Dargaville, and that last 20-30 kms before Darg was a great pace! Coming back home along the Ruawai straights was quite disappointing in comparison. :(

Well, what CAN I say?

On behalf of Custard and myself, I would like to put out a HUGE THANKYOU out to;

TLRider - For being our right-hand man in organising the ride and then becoming the ringmaster after we had to take our little detour......as well as helping us in our time of need..
TILLER - For his knowledge of those beautiful roads and for stepping in and giving TLRider a hand to control the mob ;)
Duc-Girl - For giving me a bed and for lending an ear
2Much - Thanks for getting off your bum and starting the thread, too many people on the site do alot of talking but dont do anything about it....... Top effort to the both of you in doin all those kms! Single riders on this site turn their noses up at 400kms let alone 1000+! Maybe you should look into doin the Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge this year!
Boomer and SixPackBack - Thanks for the support guys. Its good to know that we ride with caring people. :2thumbsup
Green Bling to you all........

And thanks to all the riders who got off the arses and made the effort to come on the ride............. a big :2thumbsup to you. It isn't a ride unless we have the participants.

PS Custard says thanks to all who have txt or rung. Its good to know people care :)

Well, what CAN I say?

On behalf of Custard and myself, I would like to put out a HUGE THANKYOU out to;

Your more than welcome. Its not everyday we get to have a busa parked up in our garage either:not: Loved your company.
And 2Much was toomuch, with a dedicated pillion:not: :not: as well. I think he should be able to simply submit his effort to the rusty nuts and be done with it.:msn-wink:
The ride had an excellent mix of participants:hug: and it was good to see the enjoyment at all levels. For those of you who didnt get a chance to ride with us back crew, everyone I saw looked to be having a really good ride, and were doing well:yeah: :ride:
