That's a strange one. Maybe the guy was taking a piss in the bushes?
What did you do?

They must have been picked up from there - bike had a front disc lock on it, but key left in the ignition.
I rang the local plod to see if they could do a rego check and contact the owner to let them know.
I rang back ten minutes later and was told they couldn't make contact so I told them to tell the owner I was putting the key next to the lock (slightly hidden) - I thought this had to be safer than it sitting in the ignition.
Jimbo and I saw the guy heading North up River Road later in the afternoon, so he must have found it.

I came across a bike in Hamilton one day with the key left in,so I took it out an sat it on top of the front wheel under the guard.
Rider must of worked it out as the bike was gone an hour later.

Glad I don't have to worry about people wanting to steal my bike. I can leave it anywhere with the key in the ignition and noone will look twice at it cause its a slow old honda.

Words SMART and THIEF ... don't belong in the same sentence.
Most likely, once he found his keys he probably took off with the stand still down.

I think I would prefer my key to be left anywhere other than in the ignition, even if the front wheel was locked.
The thought of someone starting it cold, straight to the rev limiter chills my blood.

It was there for a long time as we noticed it when we headed to Lower Hutt at about 3pm, and it was still there when we headed home again at 5pm. I couldn't figure out why anyone would leave a bike at the bottom of Haywards Hill - where would you go from there?

Hey we saw that bike too! Came off the ferry and were probably on the hill about 5pm. There was a car parked up next to it with some people chatting so maybe the bloke was getting dropped off then.
My worst fear is leaving my key in the lock for the boot and forgetting it. Haven't done it yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time!

Unattended with the key in the ignition and STILL no-one wants it!
A Suzuki would be gone in 60 seconds.
