What is it with public attitude nowadays? Here I was, at a mate's funeral today, heaps of us there in uniform, and this dickhead on a Suzuki pulls up in the middle of the day, spot lights blaring. I suggest to him that they are a bit bright, and that they don't look like they are aligned properly.

He sneers and grumbles and carries on at me. Bloody hell, I was only giving him a gentle warning! He better hope he doesn't see me when I'm on the motorway of he'll be in for it.

You'd think some people could just take their warning and live with it.

One of the 'joys' of the job, is that you're always on the job. Just look who it is that steps up to the mark at a crash scene, at a fight, at a kid drowning etc, it's often an off-duty cop.

Sounds like a TYPICAL cop attitude to me. Anything to make themselves feel big. If i have a bad day who cares? Not them. One gave me a ticket for not displaying a rego and wof sticker on my Car after some asshole had broken the front window and ripped off my stereo. I had called it in 10 minutes earlier and was told "sorry we have noone to attend as all patrols are busy Please go to your nearest station and report it" The next cop is saw had time to pull me over and hassel me for 15 minutes about the legality of driving without a windscreen and not displaying a current wof and rego. Assholes. See ya in court. They will probibly win as i was quite rude to them about it but i dont care. If i take it to court then they will both have to attend. That takes 2 tax collectors off the road for a couple of hours. Well worth the extra money.
I have no respect for the new breed of tax collectors. They are just govt tax collecting puppets that cant even get taxi directions right.

A couple of us that were there on bikes got involved to help him out even though we were outnumbered 4 to one. We got a kicking and a half. Both of us ended up in hospital but the cop managed to get out alive. I felt great about that. Would i put myself in hospital for a cop now? I wonder........

We are not all scum, should not all be treated like it, and are likely to fight back however we can when we are treated like that. I am a (mostly) law abiding person. Family man, nice guy, honest and helpful as well but when you lot are mean to me just for the sake of revenue raising what do you expect. Nor do i expect a reduction in the fine ($600 so far). I expect to have to pay costs of about the same as the fine. So $1200 because someone broke into my car and some cop didn't like my haircut sounds about right dont you think. Oh yea and the excess of $250 as well. Its not like i was driving a shitter. it was a 97 Skyline in mint condition (except for the windscreen and dash)

Thanks G. Yea i know i will get further if i grovel and prostrate myself before the judge/JP and the police but that is not what i am about. The money doesnt bother me. Not that i have heaps, its just i would rather be able to walk out of the court knowing that i have defended myself against the odds. Even if i get a beating i dont really care. There is nothing more satisfying than standing up for something you know is right, getting kicked down by the powers or the odds and still having the courage to try to stand up again.

I have a copy of the police report, the officers notes, my call to the police call center, witness statements (the cop didn't even notice i had someone in the car i dont think), My WOF papers from that time, a copy of the rego cert, etc. None of this will make any difference tho because i was charged with "failing to display a current WOF and Failing to display a current Rego". apparently it doesn't matter that it was regoed and wofed at the time. They were not stuck to the vehicle in the approved place.

I will save the ranting for after the JP has slapped me with the $600 costs, then i am prepared to spend a couple of days in the cells for what i will say.
At least then i will get something for my money..... hotels are expensive... HAHAHA

At least you know (like they also know) who the real morons are here. You gotta realise that these guys have a gang type mentality (Mongrel mob, Black Power, Police, same mentality just different sides of the law) and no matter what you say they will band together against you. Like front line troops in a war they are not selected for intelligence or any sort of individual/origional thought and there are countless stories of police reverting to basic and primitive tribal type behaviour (thats the type they attract). Here we have the gang in blue being a bunch of guys of very average intelligence, elevated to a status far in excess of thier abilities (because of which side of the law they are on) and we expect discretion..Yeah Right.

Maybe if i am really lucky they will add the further charge (some crap about swearing at an officer) to the list. If they think threats will put me off defending they are wrong. It will only make me more determined. Imagine the newspaper headlines in the court news THEFT VICTIM CHARGED or THEFT VICTIM CHARGES POLICE WITH HARRASMENT. I love a good fight. VICTIM OF THEFT CHALLENGES POLICE IN HIGH COURT. I will take it all the way. Will they? You bet. They will not admit when they have made a mistake in the application of a law. Sure they have followed the letter of the law but i was only driving the car to the local cop shop so they could see the damage like i was instructed to by the call center.
Ahh the simple pleasures in life.

Amen to that brother. I spent enough time on my knees when i was a kid. It sucked being short and not knowing how to fight. But its great being short and knowing how to. Everyone underestimates you. If you stand up for yourself and get the shit kicked out of you the pain is more than compensated for. Stand up and fight for yourself or no one else will is my moto.

I don't know scumdog but since all cops are dumb asses with no intelligence, then this must be the answer of a rocket scientist.

I don't make generalisations about a group of people, there are good and bad people in every organisation.
As I have said before there is always two sides to a story and reading a forum such as this and jumping to a conclusion about the police shows lots of intelligence. NOT

I have just started here by telling you (a cop I presume) that I am not happy with the level of service I (as a voting tax payer, one of your employers/customers) recieve.

You stick to being a cop and take on board the feedback and Ill stick to driving jet airliners and continue to listen to customer feedback as well. Its all in the name of improving what we do.

I see your point although you had a good case and better to say what you think in Court and maybe show the Officer in a bad light then cause now you will be up against it....mind you could just apologies for outburst and explain that you were pissed off after the theft....human nature and all that.

Remember even if the likes of Scumdog agree with you are they really gonna say so on a Public forum........I reckon Scumdog is fair and reasonable guy.

Here you go R1... I thought bum deal, talk about being re-victimised. Loosing your rag though probably just brought attention to yourself for next time tho...

Grahameeboy sums it up tho quite nicely... but I can tell ya now, I wouldn't have ticketed you, if your story was real... were you going in to the cop shop to report the theft/damage or were ya cruisin??????? BIG difference to the outcome, don't ya think?

sorry caps,

anyways why do cops continue to ignore some common sense, surely in this case a quick call to the call center would of confirmed R1 ones previous call.

If ones windscreen is knocked out, how does one get to the repair shop??

I also hate cops giving out tickets they know to be rather dodgy and saying just let the courts settle it out, going to court costs lots of money, and most of the time you turn up all lawyered up and your case just gets put off another month or two, and do they ever give you back the costs of lost work revenue and laywers fee if the cops are proved wrong?

Well lets see now. It was raining and 10.30 at night. I had my 14 year old in the car. I am 38 not 18. I was told to go to the station and report it by the call center. It was my wifes car not mine. You obviously havn't bothered to read my whole post on the issue. :brick: It bloody well was regod and wofed at the time.

Yes it was parked in town when it happened. I was at a function. I never made it to the station before being pulled over. I had phoned the call center from the function in town to report it and was told to bring it to the station as noone could come to me. It WAS (and still is) regoed and wofed at the time but since some ass had broken the windscreen it was not "displayed in the correct manner". Hence the ticket.

See this goes back to you guys sticking together dispite the overwelming evedence to support my case. You say i have nothing to loose but i am already facing $600 in fines and $600 in costs. How much more should i put up with? I have already written in and phoned them as well.

Apologies R1...misread the story, but hey, I am of lower than average intelligence:woohoo:

After a re-read, I don't think there is a problem.

Go in and speak to the Senior Sergeant or the officer in charge of traffic... outline the situation (windscreen smashed, no cops available/report it to the station, next cop seen on way home stops you and then tickets you for smashed windscreen and FAILING TO DISPLAY (that is the important bit I missed...) WOF and REG.

Let Snr Sgt know you lost your rag too at the cop - that shows you're up front and not covering anything in the story. Point out how you felt "re-victimised" by the cop in being ticketed because some shite damaged your car, (which was actually reg and woffed and a check on the registration at the time would have shown the cop this...)

I don't bet often, but the beer is on this one going away...

BTW... it is not a case of siding with them no matter what... this was a case of my mis-reading the situation... I do that sometimes... coz :stupid:

The situation, as you have described, is just wrong and should just not happen for obvious reasons.

No grounds for Ellis? Just read the book. The non-existant rooms and tunnels that the kids were molested in. The women that supposedly helped Ellis and whose charges were dropped. This was a classic case of hysteria over ritual abuse that occurred in several countries around the same period. They had the courage to admit the errors though.
Remember how many trials Thomas had? It took a journalist, a PM and an Aussie Judge to find the truth for him.

Everyone, except this jury, knows that eyewitness ID's are notoriously inaccurate. But you would expect a keen boatie to know the difference between yacht designs.

read the link I posted up, and one reason would be to cover a fuk up... up,

Another website pointing out possible flaws in the case. A lot of theories about witnesses changing their minds, contamination of evidence etc.

Have you read the Karam book about the Bain case. Compare the evidence he says was presented in court with the actual evidence presented. Great for playing "spot the difference".

On another note, your grandad and the NZ "SS" were the same in all countries during the war. Can't have people rocking the boat in wartime. Bad for morale you know. I hope he wasn't involved in the infamous Sydney Ross/Captain Calder affair.
