In need to blow off some steam here cause this morning I was the lucky owner of a brandspanking new ER-6n (10 days old ) and now I am sitting here with a pack of frozen peas on my swollen knee and a roaring headache but this is Bikey-site so: bent handlebars dentet and scratched sidepanels, tank etc etc ..
I should be considering myself lucky but I still wanted to strangle the old bastard when he told me :"Sorry there, I did not see ye!!!"
Fer fucks sake mate, ye are standing still in your tintop on a give way sign, you tell me you looked right, then left and then you pulled out right into me, knocking me into the gutter.......................
If you cannot see a motorbike that is a few yards away, bright yellow headlight beaming , you should not be on the road.

But what really pissed me off was that the old idiot , the ambulance officer and both cops sort of treated this as something that :" HAD TO BE ACCEPTED "

"Its just a matter of when, not if, Sir said one cop politely.

Now the old gitt is going to get an infringement notice, probably an instant fine of a $ 100 while I am here nursing my bits and pieces and a broken bike....

Have I got no: STRANGELING -RIGHTS or : GIVE EM A KICK UP THE ARSE RIGHTS ???????????????

OK, that feels a bit better

Bugger mate, that truly sux.

I've had cops look at my bike as they are writing out a speeding ticket and say they can see why it would be hard to keep to the limit - "It has to be accepted" sounds like a reasonable response in that situation.

Gutted Mate. What a silly old twat. At least the cops have got involved so that will make it harder for him to change his story.
If I can help in any way give me a yell.

I hope the old bugger loses his license for an appropriate period.

I read to where you said "I was the lucky owner" and then my heart kinda sank - THAT SUCKS!!!

Unfortunately you are living in NZ so he won't get punnished...move to Turkey or somewhere and you could probably witness his castration!! I think them Arabs have got some things right! :nono:

I don't agree with what the cop said either, some riders will never get side-swiped! You have my sympathies. Heal up quick and hope the bike gets sorted out smoothly! :doctor:

F...kn old coots. One of the most frightening experiences of my life was when I was the passenger in my aged Grandfathers Datsun 120Y...ever since that day way back in the 80's i've felt strongly about the elderly (70+ i spose) not holding a licence or being more strictly tested! :zzzz:

thanks for your sympathy and input.
Indeed the irony is, that I could have had a black or silver one back in December but decided to wait for a yellow one to arrive from Europe thinking yellow would be most visible.
Maybe if I would have driven faster..........................

Please dont take this wrong ol son--NOW whilst its fresh in your mind--think to yourself
"did I do everything I could to avoid this accident? "
Forget whose at fault for a moment and see what YOU could have done different.

--Ohh and dude --shit I'm sorry about your bike and your knee ---very very sucky

Yeah, not good at all. Best of luck with the knee and bike. Bit of a pain with your bike.. if it's fixed then it won't be "new" anymore... so how bad was the damage?

Maybe really it was and he wanted a closer look.... I've had people pull out on me looking at me the whole time! Probably thinking "what the hell is that piece of ....?"

Bugger, sorry to hear the news.

But surely "I didn't see you" is an admission of guilt i.e. negligence and therefore careless driving.

fair enough, point taken. I approach the intersectio doing about 45 ,indicator out headlight full on slowing down, the guy is standing still at the double white lines, I am commencing my turn and the fuckwitt starts to pull away right into me and whacks the ass of the bike away under me........................
I can draw ye a picture if it helps because I would like to know how to avoid it too in future........

but maybe the cops are right: Its unavoidable, just a matter of when not if................

(Now wheres' the fucken smily face whats got the tongue stuck in the cheek)

QUOTE]

The only thing I think you could have done (and do in the future) is to look at the driver to see if they have seen you. If they haven't, I usually slow down even more and hover the fingers over the front brake.

You can sometimes anticipate when someone is going to pull out
on you. They are often the ones frantically looking left and right in a panic and appear flustered. You can sometimes see the look of confusion on a drivers face as they are thinking who gives way to who.

It's a jungle out there.

It's just going to get better folks, now that Hellin has canned driver testing the over 80's.
Get the loudest air horns you can find, and hopefully that last despairing blast before you T bone them will give them a heart attack.

As per the original thread title...
My Mum got T-boned by a 4x4 roadwhale yesterday. They had to use a crowbar to get the front numberplate out of her cage side panel. The excuse from the tart in the roadwhale.... "I didn't see you"...

Tuff one, pretty classic too. Often happens, most of the time you get away with it when someone pulls out infront of you, sometimes there is nothing that can be done.

I remember when I crashed me shiny new R1, bit of a bummer. Hope you are/he is insured, makes things a lot easier.
