View Full Version : Stolen Cage Recovered!

Ok I know that there a lot of people that have an emence dislike to cages but when my hard working nephews car got stolen I was pissed.

To cut a long story short...it was stolen on the 22nd of December and it was reported to the police. From that date until tonight it has been pulled over twice and 1 ticket was even issued to the driver!!! (amazing that the policeman didn't see the ignition barrel missing!)

After finding this out I went up to the police station with my nephew and was told that they were very sorry for the misplaced data entry! We were informed of where the ticket was issued so I decided to do a bit of detective work. Lo and behold here she was parked on the side of the road. :sherlock:

The thief was obviously worried about the stereo being stolen as he/she had left the door unlocked but taken the face plate off the stereo!

I think that I should be entitled to some of their wages for doing their job!

Anyways....she will be finger printed and back to her rightful owner in 2 days

Thank you for your time....my rant is now done :not:

No offence to anyone, but it was Miss Marples who solved the Agatha Christie Murders.:slap:

Kels, it's great to hear that you recovered the vehicle. Maybe you should have put a call out for some Kbers to come with you and "edumacate" the thief?:chase:

Hey Mark,

"Edumacate" is about as close as your average criminal can get to enunciating "educate.";)

Fark with work like that, I'm surprised you didn't stake the vehicle out and catch the prick out! There's been a couple of bikes go missing maybe you could turn your skills towards them now?

Well done anyway.

Makes you wonder, had a similar experence here where a friends car got stolen and gutted, it was sitting on blocks when we found it with wait for it not 1 but 3 parking tickets on it, it had been reported, the first ticket was issued a day after the report took us 4 days to find the car.

Heres the funny part the ticket was not for parking but un warrentable, when she went to the issuing authority they wanted their money.

Excellent news to hear a positive result for a change.

I'm not impressed by the Police though. Okay, not having a crack at the frontline general duties guys, and I don't want to get too sarky about the resources that are made available to the IRD arm of the Police. I do appreciate that the frontline have often got better things to do than data entry, but for God's sake someone in the organisation needs a firken rocket stuck somewhere uncomfortable for the pathetic way the organisation dealt with that. For one, no one loaded it as stolen onto the system - for how many weeks?? I'd think that would be a fairly important priority? How many non-stolen cars are used in committing serious offences?

And then the guys on the frontline who pulled it, obviously didn't make too harder an enquiry with the registered own when they saw it had no ignition barrel. Or did they not notice the missing barrel? Hmm...

In all seriousness, I'd be kicking up bobsy die about that shocker. Media, PCA, compensation demands. All very easy to blow out of all proportion, but as D50 said above, a stolen car is often the precurser to other crimes. Not to mention the fact that organisational incompetence led to your nephew being deprived of his hard earned asset for even longer.

Anyone remember a small error that someone made about Irena Asher?

This is totally unbelievable! I really hope that your friend did NOT pay for the tickets! It amazes me to how this can happen! I know that we are all human and errors are easily made but hell this is beyond a joke!

Funny you should say that Colapop. I was going to go door to door and say 'Do you own the Mazda Familia, cause your lights are on" Then I was going to let my nephew give some justice. (he's a huge bugger!_
Im keeping my eye out on the stolen bikes...Jez maybe this shall me my new career:Police:

Good on ya, kels.

May not have gotten the guy, but at least the car is back, and with common sense like that, shouldn't be too long before he's caught.

Not siding with anybody but wouldn't it be interesting to see what this place (nz) would be like without coppers? Lotsa people bust their chops about the shit job they do or don't do but how badly do ya think they moan if we didn't have 'em?
No hijack inteneded.

Good on ya Kels... maybe it should be Detective Kels..... glad you got a good result from a not so good situation.... I do feel for the cops tho as you cant operate properly if you don't have the right support....

on another note, my Dad's race car got stolen out of his shed one night, he heard it start up and jumped out of bed... mum called the cops and dad got in his Monaro... chased after the race car and after a police/Monaro chase from west to shore to city to south, they cought up to the bugger and recovered the race car... cops were glad for the assistance of dad keeping up as he had the same engine in his Monaro as the race car and the coppers couldn't keep up on the m/way and the search split up, he kept in cell contact with them... bear in mind, this was about 15 years ago before PC cops came in who obeyed speed limits in chases...

I have friends that are police officers and would hate to think what it would be like without them. As the officers said that attended when we recovered it said "this should have never happend" I have always said that they are only human and everyone ...yes even me....makes mistakes

lol after you stated about two weeks back "I dont mind watching a pig getting a hiding if he deserves it"....i think i know where you stand in reguards to the Police.

I am general duties, but i would say that without the support from our traffic units when we need to cover our shortages we would be even worse off than we are now.The reason I don't mind watching a pig getting a hiding if he deserves it is the same reason I don't mind watching other people get a hiding if they deserve it. There's definitely a few guys on the frontline who do themselves no favours. But I can think of a few people who have nothing to do with the police that fit into the same category. So don't take it to heart D50. You guys have a shit job, with shit backup from a poorly managed organisation. Putting massive resources in to traffic at the expense of other areas of policing is an example of the fine management. Traffic may well be there to back you up when you're short, but the question must be asked why general duties are short in the first place? And that's a question the frontline have no control over the solution to.

Why is the alternative always no cops. Why couldn't it be better Policing?
