Although, just had a thought. Now Yuppie Mums in their 4x4s will know that a bike won't harm them so they won't give a damn about quickly dashing in front of one cutting them off
This is the case with riding a push bike

Okay so who jumped out of their seats?
It's a great message and it should be on NZ tv's but it won't happen. In addition we've all been desensitised by the half assed attemp of the speed kills propoganda.
On a funnier note, it was just a suzuki after all. The rider saw the opportunity to write it off and eagerly awaits his insurance proceeds while he checks out the local honda shop.

Hey, SUV carnage ain't just for the mums and certainly not limited to bikes. I'm always on the lookout when behind the wheel of my 3500 kg killer for anything that moves. I particulary like cars with Greenpeace and Save the Planet stickers but I'm partcial to the odd bike especially when ridden without safety gear.

You should all know speed doesn't kill, it's the kinetic energy released upon impact that does the damage. :niceone:

damn good advert!
Mind you... if i saw a car with that much bumper sticking out on the road in front of me, I would already have slowed long before I got to him... anticipating just such a stoopid action to come.
But scary as fk to see it

That ad is briliant.
Yes - serves as something to think about - for drivers AND motorcyclists.
Wonder when little ol' NZ will get anything 1/2 as effective as that on our screens???

Amazing how many people look right, then left and then take off. When we were kids being taught to safely cross the road it was always right, then left then right AGAIN, before you cross-guess its not taught anymore...

I only see drivers look left then right and left these days which is the wrong way.........if they stop in the first place cause 'glancing' seems to be the fashion these days.....once they have already stuck their nose out.

I think it's unlikely TVNZ ot TV3 would show it as it's probably copyrighted, but WE can get it out there. Copy it and email it to everyone you know. I have sent it around my mates in Telecom and arranged for it to be sent out with our next OSH newsletter. Have also sent it on to mates at Telstra, Chch Council and Honda Cars who are sending it around their organisations. The life I save may be mine, the life you save may be yours or your mates.
By the way, this add originally appeared on here in the following thread ...

this was scary when i first saw it.
i hope this type of ads are placed on TV. but nothing seems to be on TV nowadays about safety on the road, except for the load of shit they play everyday! and yet they complain about awareness! when they can reach twice the no. of people from TV, hell they even got TV in cars now!!!

Seen this one before, but its pretty good. (if its the one i'm thinking of)
The only problem with this ad, like all road safty ads is there is a flaw. When it shows the driver looking down the street the first time there is NO biker there but when it replays the action of looking down the street there is a bike there. Why can't they just do this shit right. They are like infomercials when they change facts to make it suit them better. These ads don't get through to people because of these discrepincies(sp?) what they need is an unbaised proply made ad. Or just wait at a spot that is renown for accidents and film a real one. That would send a message home. Or ride around with some paramedics and show some real footage of actual damage that people sustain and make it clear that this is the real deal and not makeup and bullshit. (just my opinion :nya: )

All that does is confirm to the great unwashed that you can't see bikes even if you look.
Excellent, remove the responsibility from the killers.
Perhaps if they showed the cage driver eviscerated by the forks, it would have more impact.
Create awareness through fear.

That gives me the shivers
He stops further back in the second clip, you could theorise that the bike is there in the first but it's obscured from the camera by his face.
It needs to be more gorey to hit home I think- perhaps a leg or two pointing off in an unnatural direction like that acc falling down the stairs ad

I've always had the opinion that rather than fitting side airbags, driver/passenger airbags they should fit poisoned spikes. You can bet your bottom dollar that cage drivers would drive carefully then for fear of being horribly impaled by such spikes.

That is a bit scary.
But. Theres two target audiences there. Bikers and car drivers.
The rider should have slowed way the fuck down just in case cage driver pulls out. he didnt.
There was another thread somewhere about Air bags for bikes, this would have been a perfect place for an air bag.

is it just me or does the biker seem to travelling faster when he hits than when he rides past?
IMO the one when he hits reminds me of markauckland...

Using this advert might prevent accidents and also use (to fund the advertising) some of the roading money sensibly...
I can't see that happening in NZ, can you?
