View Full Version : Wellington: Wellington Newbie ride 12 Feb

Uncle B
1st February 2006, 21:17
This is a chance for newer riders in the area to get togeather and head out on an organised ride.
THIS IS NOT A RACE...which is most important cause we don't want anybody crashing as it will be a fun day out.
Go at your own pace, there will be people who will wait for you.
Make sure your bike is road legal ie: warrant, rego, chain oiled and adjusted, tyres the correct pressure......

Townies: Meet at the caltex truck stop Hutt road Kaiwharawhara 10:15am for 10:30am departure.
All others meet at Caltex Rimutaka 11:00am for 11:20am departure.

LETS MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY

Also looking for experienced riders to help out with back markers and to share riding tips and any questions the newbies might ask.

I'm disappearing to Australia for the week but all going well I'll be back safe and sound to come along and get photos of you guys again and breath your smoke (eh Str8 Jacket! p.s. you get to the bottom of your coolant leak? Was it from the tube connecting the engine to the overflow bottle?).

(eh Str8 Jacket! p.s. you get to the bottom of your coolant leak? Was it from the tube connecting the engine to the overflow bottle?).

Tis still a mystery. The temps not rising too high, there is still the same amount of coolant (maybe a tad bit less) in it and all pipes are connected fine. Also it hasnt done it since so Im not to stressed about it yet. Getting a new chain and sprockets on Wed so dont wanna have to go spending $$ if Ii can get away with it... Fingers crossed!! Have fun is Aussie, will hopefully see you and your wife next time.

Probably won't be comming tommorow as non-cancelable parts are on order for the bike and the last thing i want to do is blow it up.

see ya round guys, I might ride out to meet ya.
Does anyone want to meet at mungaraki carpark at say 10:20?

phoenixgtr
11th February 2006, 13:58
We'll miss you. When are the parts due to arrive? How much you need to get fixed. You said your cam chain was stuffed. Is there more to it.

I might be able to meet you at Maungaraki about then

Moxy
11th February 2006, 17:10
Hopefully I'll be there.

Not sure if it's a good for the bike to ride it when it's only running on 3.

Took it into Motorad/Sawyers yesterday who thought it was spark drain clogging - causing the water to well up around the plugs. $220 later and a rainy ride in the evening it's back to firing on 3. Crap.

The only other thing I can think of doing (aside from pulling the plugs out every time it rains) is replacing the leads. Hmm.

Jamezo
11th February 2006, 17:51
Hmm, I'm still deciding whether to come.

I no longer think the pace will be too fast for me, as I pondered before, as I guess it is a n00bs ride. And me and alarumba had a nice ride: up mangaroa, down wallaceville, then we met this random guy on a TRX850 (?), and did up wallaceville and down blue mountain. that shit was intense!

but it made me more confident, because it was the first time I've been through a good fast twisty road. I got my peg down lol! but I think that's just because the RG has really shitty ground clearance.

so yeah. if you clownboats are lucky, you'll see me tomorrow.

KLOWN
11th February 2006, 19:43

I agree - I spent half the day following BusaJim and he was great - even gave handle signals to point out hazards and slow down oncoming cages.
Thanks Uncle B for organising the ride again - it somehow got a bit more split up than last time, but was still a really great group ride.
I'd be happy to not see gravel like that again (my first time).

FTR, I don't have web access on Sun morning before the ride, so all that discussion about postponing the ride completely passed me by. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to broadcast cancellations/postponments other than on this site, eg using txt?

Someone could definately send you a txt with any updates on the morning of the ride. I have access to KB all the time

Just PM me your cell no.
