Came across a Triumph chopper at the Horarata rally on Saturday. Been a long time since I have seen a bike with this suspension. I had a 53 Tiger 100 a few years ago with a sprung hub. Great ride. :niceone: Anyone else ridden a bike with a sprung hub. Impressions............???????

Saw a few at the coast to coast yesterday,a couple on chops. The thing to do with a chop was turn it upside down, which made the bike lower at the rear, but then it didn't work...but everyone said they didn't work anyway!

(my wife just walked in and saw what I wrote...she liked the sprung hub on two Triumphs she had - one a 51 T100)

They were very heavy, but this gave them good traction on a gravel road - with a sprung seat the bike just floated under you,on seal they were firmly planted too. They had very little travel, maybe a couple of inches (50mm) max,but that was a lot back then. You had to have a special tool to pull them apart, but I never did - although I heard bad tales about those who did...they kinda exploded as the springs came out.

Never had a sprung hub myself, but rode heaps and went pillion lots too - doing two flat tyres on my wifes T100 one Cold Kiwi was a pain in the arse.

I rode on a couple years ago,Didn't think a lot of them really, but then I was spoilt back then.I heard they were a mission to work on.
Had to be better than a rigid but.
