View Full Version : Christchurch guys Sat 11th Evening ride

For the newbies mainly. Won't be a bad thing if some more experienced guys come along too. Mainly to show some good riding habits as JWALKER is a bad teacher :bleh:

Plan is to go past sign of the flying Kiwi to governers bay, back towards Lyttelton and then home. Let me know your interest.

Cutting it a bit fine for me, I finish work at 6pm. Plus, I'm not sure if I'm required to go out for dinner with the better half at this stage. Will post and update.

I haven't heard of the Sign of the 'flying' Kiwi so googled it to no avail but i know of the 'Sign of the Kiwi' at the corner of Dyers Pass and Summit Roads, is that the place your thinking of?
Google that and you get several hundred results and lots of historic pictures.

I have a budget jacket somone could borrow, I'm not sure how safe it is though, it's a bomber jacket, it's real warm, but it would probably rip in a slide, better than nothing though, it's sort of thick suade on the outside and sheepskin on the inside.

Think I spotted something red and shiney in the back of my garage, oh yeah, must be the VFR, might have to dust it off and see if it still goes.....:corn:

Hey Sniper, was just about to offer you the bike, but whats these stories about sliding the front out on Brens Blade at 180km/h? :corn: not to mention the rolling stoppies, 4th gear wheelies and burnouts? :shifty:

Ride like a loony you mean

Anyway, great ride guys. I was really amazed at how well far que's DR handled in the corners and also spent a bit of time admiring the sound from Cheetors ZXR. Not as loud as mine, but it had a good buzz. Its was great meeting et-al from Germany and Im glad we could show you a few of the sites and sounds of New Zealand. Thanks to Andrew my flatmate for following in the cage just in case. :apint: Thanks JWALKER, I know Im great, but sheesh. :not: :spudwave:

Bren_chch decided to go to Akaroa (again) so hopefully he had a good time too.

Yeah, there were some interesting moves there

I was really amazed at how well far que's DR handled in the corners

Yeah, it doesn't go too bad, although the knobblies aren't the best on the road. The back end got loose a couple of times going into some of those corners with a lot of exposed tar. It all added to the fun though

TygerTung
11th February 2006, 21:24
I was riding to a level where I felt comfortable.

While the CG is alright around the corners, it's not the flashest on the straights.

I think CG stands for 'Corners Great'.

Will be keen to go for another ride sometime, I hope the CG doesn't kark it due to too much thrashing.
