There have probably been a dozen threads about this but I can't track them down. I have noticed the odd post saying "HP are always at such and such" - a recent one mentioned Karapiro straights where I was DUMB enough to get radared at 113kmh. Are there other places where you are more likely than not to find the HP? (I know about the Hobsonville Rd and the camera van. Again, DUMB!!!

Most of them will likely be parked outside schools for the next few days. I'm a bit worried about this as in an hour or so I'm off across the Island using minor roads and will have no idea of where some of the schools are.
I do note that on the first school day there was a camera outside Woodleigh School which is at the bottom of a gully so the road is down hill toward the school from either direction.
Even allowing the slope and the new lower 5kph tolerance a total of three tickets were issued.
Early evidence would indicate that a cure has been invented for a disease that didn't exist.

Shouldn't this thread have been titled "Where can I get a decent radar/laser detector/jammer"???
There are several of those threads!

Down the southern motorway they are frequently parked on both sides of the Ramarama over bridge and also on the Ridge Road on ramp heading south - hard to see though cause they park up behind some bush area and get you from behind.

Can't sleep for worrying about where they are parked. (Not really)
This school thing is a bit of a worry, I wonder how strangers to an area will get on when some? most? schools don't even have a sign to tell you there is a school - Hobsonville for example, apart from the cars all over the place you wouldn't know there was a school there. At least if the cars are there you can't go over 40 anyway.
Swoop - I think you might be right - I just didn't uinderstand my motive. I know you can go under the limit but it's a bit nerve wracking keeping within the 5 or 10km unless you keep a constant watch on the speedo. Maybe radar detector/jammer/ whatever is the answer.

With all the other distractions on or beside the roads to keep a look out for, being distracted by ecilop's (what you see in the rear view mirror when being followed...;-) shouldn't be on that list. Keeping a lookout for other hazards like kids running onto the road, drivers pulling out, etc,etc should be the priority. Keeping to the posted limit is one way, but having electronic countermeasures is another option to think about. Best of luck either way!:done:
