Anyone available to help me this afternoon or evening get rid of the a noise from my front brakes, I think it might be a stone or somthing in the brakes... but I hve never even pulled the front wheel off and I have to go down the south Island tomorrow!
I would prefer it doesnt fall off during the trip:no:

Just check the calipers are bolted up nice and tight, eh?

to take the calipers off, the front wheel doesn't have to come off. There'll be two bolts holding the calipers on. If you have to, undo those and the caliper comes off. Be careful about pulling gently and don't squeeze the brake lever while the calipers are off. Check, clean, reassemble carefully.
I say if you have to cos some calipers have an easier way to remove the pads without having to remove the caliper. But I don't know on your bike. See if there's any plates on the back of the caliper that unscrew, or/and any pins that go thru the brake pads. If you remove those, the pads should fall out. Watch where everything goes, cos you'll have to put it back right!

hey Jim, I had a similar problem with my bike - it would make a knocking sound at low speed. The problem turned out to be just a lose brake component (was never actually told what excactly). Motorad just went in and had it all tightened and fixed in about 5 mins. The problem is inherent in our model.

Thanks for the info bugjuice, it was actually very easy to get the calipers off. I didn't find anything to exciting a bit of dust, I gave them a bit of a clean and put them back on and made sure all the bolts were done up tight.
I thought the sound had gone, then I noticed it again for a second I think. Apprantly my back pads need replacing soon, so maby its just them touching slightly and squeeking.
R1madness I have noted your number and might drop by. We are planning on being in Christchurch for a day!
Jonty Everything seemed to be tight but I made sure when I did everything back up again.
Thanks again:doobey:
