There are some interesting names on KiwiBiker.

Mine is the name of my first bike...Suzuki GSXR250RR "Slingshot", I simply didn't/don't have the creativity to come up with anything better.

So...what does your name mean????

MidnightMike
11th February 2006, 18:32
BikerKight90 was taken :crybaby:
so I (being completely unoriginal) came up with this :headbang:

Try a search.

F/F

I'm too lazy to search...and anyway, what would you search on?

"explain your name" (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/search.php?searchid=912838)
"name" (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/search.php)
"handle" (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/search.php?searchid=912840)

So I assume Firefight is because you're a Fire fighter?

sunhuntin

My best mate is generous when it comes to giving nicknames...my username is a evolution of my real name. It starts clever but gets more and more 'tenious'.

Sean Kelly (real name - I dont hide)
Skelly wag
skel
skel-star (like pornstar, what can I say...the man is a visionary)
skelstar (the one you see here today).

Kornholio
11th February 2006, 20:18
Mine is my mother's middle name. :|

Deviant Esq
11th February 2006, 20:22
Came up with "Devi@nt" when playing Counter Strike back in the day. I'd never had any decent name I'd played CS by, and one day a guy had a dig at me for playing under a boring name. Devi@nt popped into my head right away and I used that for a long time. Then I started an online RPG (still kinda playing it now... LOL) about a year and a half ago, and wanted to name myself something royal. Sir Deviant was taken, anything longer wouldn't fit, and I hate using numbers in a username (shows lack of imagination). So I came up with Deviant Esq (short for esquire) and it's stuck since. I like it, since it's an oxymoron of sorts. A classy deviant? Happy with that title. :Punk:

Sniper
11th February 2006, 20:27

Pillick

kro
11th February 2006, 20:38
I best not explain my name, it is highly offensive to some people. I made it up when I used to play online games, and discovered its origin was less than pleasant. Actually, I might shorten it to Kro.

WINJA
11th February 2006, 20:43

Charlie
11th February 2006, 20:43

Beemer
11th February 2006, 23:02
Joined KB when I bought the BMW F650CS and stole the cat's name! We had an old cat called Beemer, so called because when she was younger she was quite tubby and when viewed from the front, her resemblence to a BMW was quite uncanny!

Sold the BMW now, but don't fancy being called Goose. Also, overindulgence over Christmas means I'm starting to look more and more like the cat!

cowpoos
11th February 2006, 23:05

cowpoos

well....its actually my nick name.... most me mates know me as cowpoos or Poo's.... but I got my name coz.... when you milk cows you obviously get shit on ya hands and arms [and some times ya head, shoulder, etc] and most people wash it off every time they can [usually hoses in the milking area of a cowshed] but.... getting wet hands and then dry hands and then wt hands,etc,etc... causes chapped hands...cracks and stuff in your hands that look disgusting and hurt.... but I don't wash my hands all the time... I wash em only at the end of milking....so I have "cowpoos' on my arms and hands for the whole milking.... and then a few work mates just started calling me cowpoos....and it stuck..[like poo's...lol]

Well no actually, couldn't think of anything I liked, when the song title of a dodgy 90's goth band popped into my head. The band "fields of the nephilium" the song "dawnrazor".
Thought why the heck not, use it all the time now for the net.

For the record my dodgy 90's goth stage is behind me, I just liked the sound of it.

Right I'm off to paint me fingernails black.

12th February 2006, 08:04
I used to be VTWIN but I sold it, the twin that is, and needed to upgrade my name too, so as some of the Welly crew were already calling me Uncle Bruce......dunnoh why, it may be to do with the grey beard I have, so I asked Spank to change me to Uncle B and Ta Da.

It has aged me......I'm not that old, only in the mornings.

"Flying" in Indonesian language.. Worked in Indonesia for a while (flying a charter aircraft for oil companies) and the local crew that I was working with called me that so I sort of keep it now to remind me of the good times/people from there. I figured kbr would be full of old farts who didn't understand anything but normal names, so stuck with the same naming convention that other people on this site from my old school did. Rather than use my e-name/handle that most of my mates know.

but - i frequent a lot of "performance car forums" and drive a V6 Twin Turbo so my Nick on those forums is Lazy6 - a play on the idea that a V6 twin turbo is anything but lazy...

and now i am here, and looking at picking up a ZX7R soon, Lazy7 seemed to fit.

Mine's what pagans usually call a "craftname" - the name by which I am known within the pagan community. To some people I am better known by that name than by "Jon".

Usually the forums etc I've accessed already have a "Wolf" and I have to add numbers to it (so I usually choose numbers that have significance to me rather than the "That name is taken, you can have "Wolf27" if you like..."

I was quite surprised that "Wolf" was available on KB without any qualifiers or numbers, was quite prepared to have to add a number.

I'd explain why I chose "Wolf" as my craftname but that would entail another epic 1.8Gb post that would upset those on dial-up...

*sic
13th February 2006, 12:02
mine:.

Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus" or "so", used inside brackets [sic] to indicate that an unusual (or incorrect) spelling, phrase, or other preceding quoted material is intended to be read or printed exactly as shown and is not a transcription error.

This may be used either to show that an uncommon or archaic usage is reported faithfully (for instance, quoting the U.S. Constitution, "The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker...") or to highlight an error, often for purposes of ridicule or irony (for instance, "Dan Quayle famously miscorrected a student's spelling to 'potatoe' [sic]").

In folk etymology, "sic" is sometimes mistakenly assumed to be an abbreviation of "spelled incorrectly", "spelling is correct", or even "sorry, incorrect".

I however added the * to the front as there was another name that was originally in front that was spaced with the *.. i cut the front bit off and left the *..

anyways, yea thats it.

Wolf

Okay....always thought Craftname was linked to Witchhood but I will go with you to avoid 1.8MgB's..........
"Craftname" is predominently used within "The Craft" (witchcraft/Wicca) but I use it for want of another reasonably understandable term. "Religious name" sounds a tad pompous. Not used to hide behind, just more appropriate for ritual than "Jon" ("God is Gracious" which, for a polytheistic pagan, begs the question "which God?")

In case anyone was wondering (which I doubt very much) here is my story about how I chose my KB name:
Went on my first ride with Jim2 and some of his mates including Mangell6, Mooch, Snuffles - this was a couple or three years ago, the group later became loosely known as the "SCMCC", but that is another story!
Anyhoo........... on the way back from that ride back from over the Wairarapa we passed by the Rimutaka Summit without stopping and LB later posted something like: "I was up the top of the Tuks and saw Jim2, Mangell6, Mooch, Snuffles, et al pass through". So I thought that means I must be "et al" then - and I promptly joined up as such.
My name therefore is nothing to do with me having an ETALian bike, I am totally nothing to do with the "artist" group known as et al, or the reverse of the word: late, or any other connotations there-of.
There you have it, and thanks for asking.

As for the "clubname" - the thread and picture which would explain it all appear to have been lost in the fullness of time but it was to do with a picture taken of our bikes outside an establishment roughly opposite the Wild Oats in Carterton. It was the local Senior Citizens club and none of us were too happy when someone noted the appropriate building signage had appeared in the picture.

Thanks Mooch. Not quite sure (mists of time and all that getting the better of me) but I think the "square wheels" incident might have been on the second ride for SCMCC. Used to be a fan of Daffy when I was a kid..May still be....He often would refer to himself when in a huff as "this Little Black Duck"........Picked it up as a kid and it kinda stuck

The Baron
7th February 2010, 07:56
About twenty years ago I used to drive from Wgtn to Auckland every three weeks for work. I often stayed with family. I would time the trip to see if I could do it in a shorter time and was known by the Auckland family as The Baron because of this. Speed/flying. One trip I arrived in Auckland with the words "The Baron" on the drivers door. It has been on many of my work vehicles over the years and one motorcycle, a red honda shadow. I often think of putting it on my BMW's - German flying machine- red Baron - who knows?
I don't have it on any vehicles now but my wife to this day has "The Baroness" on her cars.

The site wouldn't allow me to use my initials, pc, as two letters is not enough, so I just expanded on them.

I've been called pc since I was a kid because there were other Peters in my class and it was easier to identify each of us by initials. There was a PS (which we often referred to as 'afterthought'), a PJ (or sometimes 'jimjams'), a PG ('cuppa') and me, pc, and I often copped pea soup.

Ahh, memories.

I've always been called something Graham so it was easy I guess.

KiWiP

Nickname coined by my Bro in law when I came across here (P is initial of firstname). My twin nieces sang it together a lot in a delightful wayso that I think about them when I see it. So it cheers me which is good. But probably annoys real Kiwis as I'm a pom claiming a Kiwi title, which is also good :bleh:

I have lived in many towns and had a different nick name in each one. Every time I moved I like to change my name. I need to stay one step ahead of my enemies and at least three steps ahead of friends and family!! I used Jackal when I joined KB cause I had'nt been given a nick name yet in my new town. It is what I ride. So until I get given another nick name, or I get tracked down again, Jackal it is!
