Got a shiny new set of Pirelli (read expensive) Diablo's. :woohoo: Interested to hear how you all scrub in your new tyres. Mine consists of finding a windy bit of road with a bit of variance in the surface and giving it a bit of stick. Got to be a wee bit more careful than usual though.

Give it about 100 kms to get the oils of and you will be sweet.

Yeah take it easy for about 100k's, Then I normally find a nice set of twisties and ride them back and forth progressively getting faster and lower. Doesn't take long to scrub them in.

Just a short run on a gravel road does it,the stones and dust take off the release compound and scuff the surface.

Yep Avon Viper, very nice tyre. Had a Pirelli Diablo Corsa on the front before it which was really good but I want to see how good these Avons are as they are very highly rated in all the tyre reviews.

Yeah I was almost tempted.....suppose to be very good directional....guess they go forwards then!!!!

Love my Powers although being newish still I went over a huge square of shiny stuff on SH16 last night and the SV wobbled a bit....or is that shimmered......it was wet and glad it was not on a bend...

The technique recommended by Metzeller and Pirelli is to lightly spray a rag with CRC brakecleen and wipe off the release silicone. Then wipe the trye down with a dry rag. Do not use too much Brakecleen. Only use CRC BRAKECLEAN.
This technique has been used sucessfully by racers, tyre techs that care, and people that know, for years.
