View Full Version : Another Friend Gone

I read a brief sidebar in The Sunday Herald about a motorcyclist killed in a head-on near Otorohanga on Friday.
I just found out this morning that it was my old boss from Telecom; the guy who approved leave for me to take The Man to Phillip Island in 2004 on very short notice and loaned me his digital camera into the bargain. He also taught me how to play squash and we have shared many a drink and a laugh through the years too.
So I am going to a funeral in Hamilton on Thursday afternoon.

Condolances to Terry's family and friends.
There were a few on TM who worked with him and said he was a great Boss, mate and friend and they are going to miss him dearly.
RIP Terry.

What's Terry's surname? I've been with the company for 26 years and although the name Terry doesn't ring a bell the surname may do.

Terry Woolhouse, team leader in the Network Ops Room for many years, although moved to another department in Networks recently. He's actually an ex Christchurch local & staunch Canterbury supporter, so it's quite likely you'll know him from before he moved up to Hamilton.
Was also a regulary in the annual Post Office/Telecom, inter-office cricket/drinking matches.

I was riding in the same area when he was killed, I saw a heap of other bikers and now Im wondering which one of them didnt make it home the police report says he slipped on oil and slid into the path of an on coming truck, the truck driver was slightly injured also
Very upsetting for all involved Im sure, all I can do is pass my best wishes to his family.

Thanks for that, Quasi. I was wondering because he is usually a very careful rider, and he was on a BMW, btw.

RIP Terry. I just heard that he was heading down to play cricket with my boss (Telecom) and there was a tribute to him there, black arm bands and a minutes silence, he was apparently a great guy.. condolances to Friends and Family

He worked on the next floor up from me. Always buying his team pizza's etc.
And while I was still working there, it was usually me who claimed his credit card & made the orders. :D
The funeral was fantastic & packed out. And I was the only one to turn up on a motorbike, despite the over-representation of motorcyclists in the NOC. Luckily, there was only 1 lady distressed by my appearance in leathers & that wasn't Terry's wife, thank goodness. Turning up on a red bike in black leathers to a staunch Canterbury supporting motorcyclists funeral was apparently appreciated. ;)
