Mate i doubt a ZX10 will be kissing your arse, despite the fact the its propably hairy I think the ZX10 will be kicking every GSX arse in street spec anyway, no doubt about its superioty over the K5, or K6 , for fuck sake the ZX10R has been the master bike winner for the last two years you dont think they will throw that away to a lowly common as fuck GSX do ya:finger:

That yellow looks a little orange. But Im colour-blind :)

bugjuice
14th February 2006, 20:26
nah, the yellow is more like the KB yellow, nothing near the orange.

I could be keen, but I still think that a thou would be wasted on me. I have enough fun on a 6 hundy, why spoil it? I've had a few rides on thous before, and yeah, there's more power.. whoop-de-doo.. tis good, just got enough at the mo. May be later.. I'll still take the ZX10 for a run round the block tho ;)

Why better aerodynamics with undertails exhaust over the previous design of the side pipe. Not to mention it looks cool, the new stubby exhaust coming out are pointless why dont they just make the exhaust invisible and be done with it

I think the 10 will be a much beter looker in the flesh, mate's buying one so keen to have a geez and maybe a quick spin too, word has it the 04-05 systems bolts to the 06 so if you wanna go side slung for muffler/exhaust system, easy, plus once the heat sheilds and stcok pipes are ditched prolly wouldn't look that bad.

MD
15th February 2006, 21:20
Went in today and saw the green one. As expected it looks sleeker, lighter and faster. Liked the pipes and new rev counter display. It's already sold and I'm sure the new owner will be up the Hill showing it off pronto. As ya do. Hey I'm not jealous, no really. In fact I look forward to giving him a chase one day. The 600s will always win because the 1000s have to stop for a tyre change between tank fill ups, and the new zx10 monster power will rip a fair few tyres to shreds. I know I went broke feeding tyres to the CBR1000RR.
They have a black demo as well but it was out- surprise, surprise, lets join the queue.

Saw a few of the 06 ZX10Rs at Paeroa. Not a nice looking maching. Headlights too small, pipes are just all kinds of fucked up but the funniest thing was they had had to cut the plate to get it to fit between the pipe.

Also on show at Paeroa was the K6 GSXR600. Still as mean looking as when I first saw pics of it. And also the 2006 R6. Fuck me that thing looks cool, and sounds mean as accelerating up Yamaha straight.

After checking out the 10r at red baron on friday, I'll have to give those exhausts the thumbs down. Looks like they were trying R1 style, but failed miserably.

I think the K6 gsxr600 exhaust looks great. Dont like the R6 one much though, maybe if it was black and blended in like the gsxr's one.

I've just read a report on this 'Masterbike' thingy often referred to.
What we haven't been told, was that all the riders prefered the Gixxer to ride.
A certain other slime green bike had a smidgeon faster average lap times and won on points.
Of course, being a nano-secong faster around a circuit that we'll never see, let alone ride on is hardly relevant to good old NZ, is it?

Remember this test is about the fastest best performing bike with 19 riders assessing them all in turn, on the Circuito De Jerez track in Spain, same track as Rossi's passing move on Gibernau last year, a good track.

A certain other slime green bike had a smidgeon faster average lap times and won on points.

Lap times as follows
1st ZX10 1.53.95
2nd MV 1.54.46
3rd GSX 1.54.51
4th R1 1.54.519
5th CBR 1.55.15

The Suzuki while not the overall winner won in the Engine ranks and the Brakes Rank and also won in the Survey rank ie riders liked it the most.
its just the as an overall package the ZX10 is the faster bike...... again, third year running. Make of it what you will but this is about the most extreme test that is done and as far as Im concerned its fact. Next year if ZX!) isnt the winner I will acept it also by the way.

Of course, being a nano-secong faster around a circuit that we'll never see, let alone ride on is hardly relevant to good old NZ, is it?

no, but its a good indicator of the best bike available isnt it?

No it's an indicator of the (slightly) quickest bike around that circuit.
Which, if you lived next to it, might be important to you.
The Gixxer is the best road bike, which is where we ride.

The_Dover
1st June 2006, 08:49
I'd dispute the masterbike crock of yankee shite anyway.

How the fuck can they judge a ZX10 to be the best around a track based on a couple of lap times?? Has it won anything? Fuck all to my knowledge.

And it is boring as fuck to ride, may as well be a honda, and that is no joke.

Isnt the quickest bike the best bike?? dont forget this test is about the fastest bike with the best consistant lap times, the fact that it was only slightly quicker is as relevant as Rossi beating a rival by a fraction of a sec, he still won.

I dont think the GSX is the best road bike at all actually, the 1st and 2nd gears are yuck and to tall for the road.
Hey for clarity I like the GSX, I rode one for a fair bit on a ride recently and thought it was cool, but its not the best road bike for NZ I got of the GSX and jumped on a CBR, it was alot nicer to ride that the GSX anyway thats a different debate aint it? the best road bike for NZ probably aint even a thou its probably a GS1200? fuck knows.

But as much as it urks you mate you are going to have to get over it cause the Masterbike of the year is still the mighty ZX10........ 3 years running:yes:

Dunno, to poor to buy all the mags, wanna send me some?????

I think alot of the tests are crapola, only the masterbike does it right ie one track, control tyre 20 riders, Factory reps, blah blah blah.
Like I say this test is about track times not anything else, comfort etc are not considered.
the GSX is a good bike Im not saying it isnt, its like toyota is a good car, its just that they are everywhere like a gsx, the Suzuki is the Toyota of the biking world:wait: you know cheap mass produced go okay for a while:wait:

serioulsy, yu can pick up 10 mags covering the subject of best bike and get 10 different answers. at the end of the day its what you like, if you like it great buy it love it ride it, its all good.

My 2 cents:

The ZX10R, i though WTF when it first came out, then i saw a pic of a black 10 with those horny looking akro's on it, an i though fuck yeah, i'd own one of them, now after seeing a few in the flesh, and reading some reviews, nah i wouldn't own one, I'd buy an 04-05 anyday.

The CBR1000RR, never done it for me, great bike, does everything well, but does nothing well at the same time, couldn't own one.

The R1, it's a mean bike for sure, but it just looks too pretty for my liking, doesn't look like a bike at the sharp end of the stick (even though it is) but nah not for me.

The MV, fuck i live in a real world, where people are poor, so no.

The GSXR, it has the hooligan element like no other bike has, it does everything well and some things even better, in my veiw it's been the GSXR and R1 duking it out at the top, but the GSXR is strong in me and i'd buy one with no questions asked, but i would still look at other options for sure.

No 999R in the masterbike? wonder why, i'd buy one if i could afford it the biposto and S models just wont kick it with the Jappa's, but the R well in the right hands that could be a weapon.

The above bikes all have somehting to offer everyone, and it takes a pretty good rider to exract the differnces out of them, i cant see that by masterbike the ZX10R is the best, and if thats all you're going to base your opinion on, open your eyes a bit, there's more to it than being the fastest stock bike round the track.

And 19 riders tested in masterbike right? Were those lap times of the one fastest rider there, or was it an average of all 19 riders on each bike, i think then we would get a more broader veiw on which is the best bike?

Not necessarily, even the testers disagree on which they like better. On an overall average the ZX came out a whole 1/2 sec. faster. Something missed with Masterbike is that different testers set their own individual fastest times on different bikes. Not everyone was faster on the Kwaka. It's down to rider skill and personal preference on these things, surely? As Lou said, what relevance to NZ, (or any country's), real roads? I'm certain that were I to ride a 'Busa and some of the better KB riders were to hop on my bike and we all raced around the Coro, I'd be well and truly left behind! What's a 1/2 sec. around a race track unless you're in Superbikes or MotoGP when other riders are faster on the other bikes? Something had to win, but to me they're all awesome in their own ways! It's all good for motorcycling, though!:first:

Nice choice of bike. Sure will be a hell of a lot of fun to ride. Enjoy. I am a honda man myself.

Excuse me, bastard.

I'm not a fat, bald old cunt that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

And I only drink my spirits from the bottle.

With a bendy straw.

Okay Im confused

And it is boring as fuck to ride, may as well be a honda, and that is no joke.

Sure was boring staying ahead of you. Too easy. :nya:

Hey Grandad, how's the thumbprint?

When I reach your vintage and have gained the riding experience you've got then I'd wager it would be a fair contest!!

And I'd assume that when I get to that age I'll also need a soft old Direblade to cosset my chalfonts.

So you can't even keep up with a grandad on a soft old direblade through open sweeping corners. :motu:

Haha - Age and experience ain't the be all and end all - ask Cycosis how long he has been riding for.

It just makes me laugh - all the homos claiming they have the bestest bike in the world and rubbish everything else, but can't ride it for shit. Good on ya - as long as you're a legend in your own mind.

I couldn't give a fuck if you were on your second pint by the time I get to the pub, as long as I get there and they haven't closed or run out of beer.

Open sweeping corners have never been my cup of tea, never will be.

And the only place I'm a legend is in the Shetland Islands. I'm happy with that.

Oh, and the bedroom. ;)

Just like I couldn't give a fuck about your extra few horses or few less kg's.

Shit, we're almost in agreement.

Anything from Euro is vastly superior to anything from Japan.
Tell ya what you and one of your Jap bike mates vs me and Finn on our superior Euros, in town and lets see who pulls the most chicks?

Derbi?:scooter:

I found a way to fix that, pull the clutch in.

Hey Quasi, good to hear you are enjoying your bike. :)

BUT' I heard they are a bit slow in stock form.

Here you go mate:
http://www.muzzys.com/ZX10/ZX10_Turbo/index.html

500hp and 250 foot lbs of torque. That'll help you to keep up with a GSX1400. :bleh:

Hang on, I'll just get my coat. :bye: :)
