my nsr is playing up , sumtimes one cyclinder doesnt work so i changed the spark plugs and it still drops one side sumtimes, it may go fine then i stop and start it up again and its not going. sometimes the side that isnt going spits smoke but doesnt go properly other times it just blows oily air, wen i put the plug thats been going( and is still hot ) in the other cylinder it normally goes sweet but then fouls it up again in no time. any suggestions ??? do some oils not burn as good as others ??

What oil you running? What model plugs? Are you setting the gap correctly? Ever had it serviced/tuned? How many kays?

And the other questions? The MC18s I've seen doing this do a piston in the not too distant future. As they're nicasil plated bores, it's a lot cheaper to put new pistons and rings in it now, than after it blows up.

ok cheers , the ks say 19000 it was 17000 wen i got it but it was jap import so ?? if its the pistons why does it work sumtimes or when the plug is real hot
? do you know roughly how much to do piston and rings?

I'm not much good at sums,I only fix bikes.
1 + 1 = 2
1 + 2 = 3
2 + 2 = 4
....let me know when it gets too difficult for you....

You want new pistons and rings every 10,000k's so it's gettin' near that time, could be loss of compression from shitty ring and sometimes the spark is enough to compensate? Purely hypothetical, but look at new pistons and rings anyway.
And make sure all the leads are plugged in properly, I've had mine fall out up the line somewhere, not tied down properly.
Otherwise dunno, my MC16 does this at start up sometimes but after a few seconds it's fine. Maybe it just needs a damn good wringing, clear it's throat out. But I wouldn't recommend that if you're near rings time...

Yep, sounds like it's ready for a rebuild. Take my word for it, it's far cheaper to have the barrels stripped off and the piston and rings checked now, than to kill the barrels with a piston melt down.
Besides, once it's been decoked and tuned with new bits, it'll fly sooo much faster than it does now :D
