Phoned Frosty, sounds like the problem is somewhere in the software settings, however some unknown person has "misplaced" his monitor power cord so he can't even turn the screen on to see what could be wrong
End result is he's out of action (as far as internet access goes anyway) possibly for a few days, so if any of yas wonder why he isn't posting it's not that he's being slack or anything :p
Myself and at least one other have offered to help now so hopefully we can get it sorted.

Nah can't be, if it was pron related it would be a HARDware problem, not a SOFTware one!:blip:

After rebuilding your PC, I would say the problem is with your external ADSL modem not connecting. What make/model is it?

We have found a few subscribers out west having problems connecting lately. They will get a DSL signal but no connection to their ISP.

Were advised (by ihug site service tech) that Telecom have been changing from Nokia to Alcatel DSLAMs at the exchange and this is supposedly causing some problems.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Service Techs!

HAHAHAHA

Dude, if had a dollar for every time a service tech palmed off a customer I'd be a rich man by now.

If the DSLAM is upgraded from Nokia equipment, which they all will be at some point, then at the most it should just take a restart of the modem... pop the power cable out for 10 secs, wack it back in, wait for it to authenticate and pick up the DNS server addresses... whammo, online.

So you think it would be safe to assume that after trying 3 different accounts with 2 different ISP's each on 2 different ADSL routers and getting the same result on each, then 3 calls to each of the ISP and Telecom that maybe your "whammo" approach may be flawed?

Damn, in future I shall call you, cause you seem to have it sussed.

Depends who you were talking to really... as with everything in life, sometimes you get good guys, sometimes you get retards...

How did you post this then?

Amasingly enough the world wide web actually means there are a number of computers - globally (the "World Wide" bit...) that can connect to a network (the "Web" bit).

I'm guessing it could have been one of the billion or so other connections...

Yep he used the jug cord to power up the PC to see if he was at least getting a link light between the PC and modem :p Only one jug though, so still no cord for the monitor. (Yeah, both cords were missing).

Well the Link and Eth lights on his modem where both going, so unless its a problem with the connection to the ISP... didn't catch the make/model though sorry.
