Welcome to the site.
I think I'm the only one on this site with a Honda Rebel at the moment that is actually in NZ and not the states, but mine needs heaps of work and still has not been registerd in NZ yet.

Don't see any on trademe either but there are several other 250 cruisers on there you might enjoy. Didn't search for price cause I have no idea what your budget is.

A Virago 250cc cruiser is ideal for the shorter person.

I own one and I am only 4' 12" tall.

The Virago is a great bike to communte on and also great for out of town riding.

So go and check them out at your local bike shops.

When I sat on a Honda Rebel a few years back I found that the side boxes (air filters) got in the way as my legs are short...
Hence the Virago is a better bike.

Now Riff Raff once owned a Honda Rebel, she will be the person to chat to about the rebel and what they are like.

Scorpygirl is also about the same height as you...
she also rides a Virago 250cc cruiser.

Seriously the Virago is the best ideal bike for us shorties.
The seat is narrow and you can reach the ground comfortably.

When I was first searching for a bike... it was suggested the Honda Rebel and I couldnt find one anywhere to even sit on one to check out the height factor etc.

After finding the Virago... that was it for me... no more searching.

Then lo and behold a few weeks later I found two Honda Rebels over on at the North Shore bike shops. So I went to sit on them just out of curiousity's sake...they were too tall for me all because of the side air filter boxes that got in the way of my legs reaching the ground.

People whose bums are too close to the ground have equal success with the Honda Rebel, Yamaha Virago, Suzuki Marauder (I think) and Kawasaki Eliminator.
All are cruiser style in the 250cc size.

Hi Liss, welcome to the site.

We've just bought a Virago 250 for my wife to learn on. She's 4'11", and can ride it with ease. And my 18 year-old daughter (all 4' 9&1/2" of her) can also ride it, so at 4'10", do not despair!

We also tried out a couple of Rebels for size, but as Crashe pointed out, they dig into the legs of shorties, when you've got your feet down. The Virago has a bit more power (will comfortably handle open-road use), has a cooler sound, and has "bigger bike" looks.

What sort of budget have you got? Getting a good one at a good price is the battle, they hold their prices second-hand. But that's not all bad, you will get most of your money back if you upgrade later.

Give Crashe a break... it's been a big week!! :shit:

Yes, the Virago is a really nice bike and is great for people that are short on the wheel-base. I have mo probs reaching the ground.

Welcome to KB Liss.

whatever has been said about Viragos etc is all true but the absolute "horniest looking " 250 V-twin must be the Honda Magna 250, about 95 to 97(I guess)

Performance wise its as gutless as all the other bikes mentioned but for looks , the Magne leaves everything else for dead...........................
Happy bike hunting (nearly as good as riding one)

6ft 2in to be exact.

And Crashe, that's no excuse. lol. Hope you heal well and the bike isn't out of commision for too long.

And Liss, Good luck. Lot of fun bike shopping but be wary of salesmen.
