What an idiot!!! I'm sure I heard a couple of odd noises that sounded very much like he touched the vehicles he was passing.

Its kind of intoxicating if you watch it all the way through but it just goes to show that in this day and age kamakaze is still alive and thriving in Japan

He proved it! He was OK while he was "on" but what a place to have an "off"! :weird:

Like the optimist falling from a multi-story building.

As he passed each floor he called out "I'm OK so far". :blip:

Not for me I'm afraid! :nono: Cheers John.

also note, was it just me or was there an abnormally large amount of commercial vehicles in that clip? :gob:

Korea
19th February 2006, 20:51
Yeah, I also thought the video was pretty 'normal' for asian road conditions. Most guys ride without wing mirrors around town here, so they're narrow enough to 'thread the needle'.
Er... myself included. But I always do a head check! :sweatdrop:

Last time I was in Welly around December 2004, couldn't believe that lack of cars on the road. Girlfriend was asking "Where is everybody???"
Having said that, the drivers I did see tended to drive much faster in the inner city than in Korea... and much more aggressively.

i am glad AK aint that bad yet, be interesting to find out how long it would have taken a cage to do that run, looks as if he does it twice a day.

i did notice a lot of commercial vehicles, I guess most people would take the rail.

Not quite this day and age - that video would have to be at least 20 years old. The newest looking car I saw was a mid-eighties Mitsi Mirage.

Dial-up people note - well over 30Mb - I'm still downloading!

BULLSHIT! I saw an R32 Skyline, would make it 1989 at the oldest.

Noticed that it was fairly old footage, was a HUGE number of trucks on the road.

Noticed a strange lack of modified cars too?

You see an abundance of commercial vehicles and a lack of nice cars because it is a tolled expressway, one of the hundreds accross Japan. Most people driving their own cars stick to the city streets to avoid the tolls, and in the case of modified or nice cars to cruise. No sense in cruising where people can't see you!! Haven't driven on one in the city (have in the countryside) but now I believe the signs that flashed 'traffic jam - 35km'.

I saw a number of vehicles that didn't start production before 89-89 and also a J or K series GSXR on the back of that pick-up.

Oh yeah, it's still very much alive and well over there.

He's narrow and quick but I didn't see too much out of the ordinary (apart from all the trucks). I thought you guys in Auckland would have similar journeys based on what I read about your traffic congestion.

What was so wrong with that? It was some pretty average (boring) lane spitting. Try watching the Paris Ring road video (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=1319).

Nah, that's pretty normal for places like Tokyo.

What a dude. "Why queue?", indeed.

Saw a video of a motorcycle courier in London once. Thwack, thwack, thwack, thwack...smashing wing mirrors as he hooned down the street at mach 2...

Ah yes, the 'Black Prince' and his 16 minute run around the 35km peripherique on a gsxr1100...

Anyone know who is the fastest around the M25???

wow, you have to pay to join a queue?
is he the next Gohst Lider then?

Didn't go over the 100 km speed limit very much and only clipped a few wing mirrors on he way.
That's a longer trip that the whole of NZ motorway.
There are some really slow bikers in Japan.
Guys got some balls to split two big trucks at 80 kph.

vtec
12th March 2006, 11:54
Yep looks pretty similar to Auckland motorway in some sections where you get trucks quite close together. I've had my wing mirrors touching trucks on both sides once... damn it. Backed out of that one quick.

I'f I'm in the mood or in a hurry I'll split like that. If the traffic is going above 80-90 I'll usually sit in and cruise. Unless you get some knob end who likes to sit next to a car and match speeds with a massive gap opening up in front, there's too many of these types at the moment. Hogging the fast lane.

:gob: DARN!!!.....
Shit endless amount of "city" there. No wonder why they have so much pollution over there. But did you notice allot of the motorway was running quite smoothly considering the amount of people that live there. Well at least compared to lousy Auckland’s roads.

Lazy7
13th March 2006, 07:20
that traffic is so much worse than auckland. and whats worse - he had to pay a TOLL to get onto that motorway. geez. if i were paying to use a motorway i would expect it to be running a little free flowing than that.

also - lots and lots of big trucks... probably cause they sent all their cars to new zealand for us to buy!
