View Full Version : A swarm of Hornets in the capital
Kendog

Well, four Hornets at least.
Mrs Kendog, skelstar, et al and myself got together for a trip over to Martinbourough today (joined by Simon, who had a Honda at least;) ) and a very enjoyable ride it was too.
Many discussions about future modifications were had and plans for the upcoming track day were discussed. I may have even been talked into taking my bike on the track :ride:
Looking forward to the next ride, all are welcome - especially those with Hornets. It is a great feeling riding along, looking at the group of bikes in front of you and they are all the same bike as yours.

It's not the RVF that ruined the photo LBTW.
Sigh. Lovely day it was too.
Thanks for asking..... no really, I didn't want to go anyway....no, don't worry about me.....that's fine, I know when I'm not welcome....buy a Kawasaki to be different and everyone else buys a Honda and forms a slightly gay Gang....bastards.

Thanks for the pics Kendog and nice to me you and the other half. Four bikes of same model, but all subtlety different due to owners mods and preferences - isn't it wonderful (and not at all even slightly gay, thank you Jim2).

Insert Tui Moment.
You could call the new gang: Great Hornet Extra Yeah (Japlish in keeping with its origins) or G.H.E.Y for short.

Was a good day for sure. I nearly went over the hill again with Velox and her lot :)I did the watertower road. That was good. Someone had **caned** it along there earlier, moving north to south by the looks of things, and had left little black lines around all the corners.
Then I ran into that crew at lake ferry, and had fush and chups.
And my fence is still un-fixed.. Oh well, maybe next sunday..

Looks like you guys had a great day. Sunday was a stunner. Sorry I couldn't make it but duty called:weep: Kendog, the Cibber will be up for another dash over the hill soon. Although, it may be a little uncomfortable with all the hornets around though;)

Would be good to have you with us next time Dr Hook. Jonty, you can be an amalgamated member, like LBTW, at least you have a Hoonda! I had a great ride with you guys yesterday, nice to meet up with other like minded people, and nice people to boot! Thanks for waiting for me too!!
Mrs KD.

Dont worry about the waiting thing. You were riding well and as you could see we werent in a hurry to get away most of the time.
One thing I could suggest is that you come up to the trackday and get out on the track. No-one in the slow-learners group will be racing (far from it) and its a good opportunity to get your bike leaned over a bit without having to worry about Terrano Utes driving close behind you. Ive done one TDay and my confidence was heaps higher as a result. You can find/ask someone to follow for a session and emulate their lines. Maybe steal a session of Mr Kendog?

20th February 2006, 12:26
Hey thanks. Yeah, might have a think about it! Nige is pretty keen to go and I think he's wanting to get out on the track too. Guess that's the nice thing about us having too bikes that are basically the same, I can have a go at things like that on his bike and leave mine in mint, unraced condition! Stealing one of his sessions would be a grand idea, I'm sure if I went and spent a while watching, it wouldn't take me long before I'd want to get out there and try it too!!

I went up with my 250 last time and knew that Manfield is a 'fast' circuit (ie reasonable straights, fast corners) therefore I didnt want to go out (small bike = lots of reving/thrashing). I watched the clow session and was kicking myself for not going. It didnt look fast and threatening at all. Youll kick your self if you dont go out. Id say there will be about 4 sessions. 4 different groups too. I believe the slow/learners have a max of 140km/h anyway (behind the leader).
Taupo trackday in May.

Ok.
1. Rock on up and pay your $40 for a day of fun.
2. You will have to pass scrutineering which is usually WOF stuff, taped up indicators/mirrors (remove them)/lights. Cant remember what else. Oh, they check your riding gear. Cordura is good. Helmet is also good apparently.
3. Walk around and bullshit a bit with others. Hopefully get a look at the track from the stands or something. Maybe get a look at others on the track.
4. Pace a bit. Look for reassurance.
5. Kit up. Head out. Come in after 15mins. Come down from adrenaline rush and wonder what all the stress was about.
6. Shake a little and storytell/lie until you get out there again.

Lisence terms etc.?
skelstar
20th February 2006, 12:57
This is not the official word but I believe you may not even need a licence.
You thinking of coming/riding or is that question relating to MY licence? :)
Colapop
20th February 2006, 13:02
Lets not talk about who has what lisence...
I'm considering a bike up the line and if I get that one I may wander along to have a look. I make no claims about any speed that I can do. And I reserve the right to keep my training wheels on. (and the ones on the bike too)

I'll definitely be doing that - but I've yet to get a bike. I'll probably rock on along to a TRTNR if I get a bike soon (which is the plan) and then go to things with a group instead of on my own (need someone to hold my hand)

Good on ya Str8.
Theres a few riders in the 150-250 category that frequent the TRTNR that should be going on the track.

Free to watch (has every other time) and riding (I think) starts at 9am. Theres a thread about it around somewhere.
