Ahhhhh, yes now I remember why I love riding my motorcycle so much!

Yesterday I decided to do a bit of a loop ride. I went from Wellington, over the Rimutakas to Martinborough via the Western Lakes Rd. Stopped for lunch and then went along a back road (not sure what it was called) through to Masterton and then over the Manawatu Gorge through to Palmerston North and then down to Foxton for a cuppa with AJ Turbo & Mud Boy and then on home to Wellington.

Perfect day except for a few brown pants moments going around the Western Lakes Road, it was a little bit breezy to say the least!!

Most of the roads were pretty free from traffic apart from (unfortunately) someone who thought travelling at between 80 to 90kms when you have a logging truck, a car & a motor bike behind you is ok! I had to endure that from just out of Eketahuna until we got to Palmy.

Betty cruised along at a fab pace and I ended up with loads of squished bugs on my visor. We rode 454kms from beginning to end and I loved it!

Hows those 2 getting on? Haven't heard from them since their Naki visit. Must think I have too much dirt on them since finding a mutual friend up here.

Hey, cool ride, I know that run well. A good little add on is the alfredon back road that runs from Masterton to Eketahuna...
I know what you mean about that wind along the early straights on Westlake road, it can be truly horrific, the wind just comes racing straight down the side of the takas and the next stop is you lol!
Did you enjoy the rollor coaster into Martinborough?
I always did enjoy that part!

Anyways, on ya for doing a classic top draw ride!

I had a similar re-birth on Saturday :)

Not having ridden a bike for just over 2 months, I picked up my new (to me) CBR from Welli, and proceeded to make my way back to Auckland.

After half an hour of trepidation about this whole going around corners business, partly due to the lack of recent practice, partly the recent crash, and partly the massive bloody chicked strips on the Diablos that were on the bike (not to mention hearing heaps of bad reviews of the Diablos), the sensation of powering through a corner and nailing it at the end exit reminded me of exactly why I love these things :)

I have said this already, but the topic of re-experiencing the joy of riding...just had to share it again :)

Not bad roads around that little Welli place, and apparently I missed most of the good ones. Some day...
